Go Big

Gals, in a mere 3 days I will be celebrating my 37th anniversary on this earth! It's a true testament to the phrase 'time flies when you're having fun'. When it comes to special occasions I go big with my ensembles.

I loved this dress when I saw it for 3 primary reasons, cotton poplin fabric (most favorite for it's crisp coolness), straight midi length (most longer dresses are a-line and for a petite gal that's often overwhelming) and the oh so fabulous balloon sleeves.  I mean let's not be basic.

I also found the colors of the tiny floral print cheery and fitting for the season.

Now, I'm all ready with a dress and nowhere to go. If you're are optimistic like me, you're holding on to attending Summer soirees and this dress will be perfect for them. Weddings, showers, gals' night out and hopefully vacations are times when a little something with pizazz is what you need.

I added a white belt to break up the long line of print but because this dress has a slim silhouette it's not necessary for shape.

Tip:  When wearing an outfit with ample sass, no need for competing accessories such as jewelry. Keep it simple.

Floral Midi Dress

How in the world is it March already? Madness! This world just keeps spinning with no sign of a slow down.  Gals it is important to be still and enjoy sweet moments with the ones you love.

Before I go down the rabbit hole on the importance of how precious time is (you've heard it, you know it, now go outside and enjoy it!) let's talk about sweet floral midi dresses.

Florals you love, dresses you love but midi lengths?  you're still unsure.  Longer lengths were abundant in the 80's and 90's but since then it's been knee length or above.
Personally I find the midi length (hem that falls below the knee - mid calf) to be feminine. The key is to not overwhelm the body or appear too dressy/formal.  A floral print and in a fabric and cut that has movement adds whimsy to the design.
You also avoid the problems maxi dresses have which is hemming and casual vibes.  For full length dresses you have to worry about either hemming the length or having to wear heels.  They also have that beachy/vacation vibe that's just too casual for work days.

The midi is just right for both dressy & casual occasions (work, church, date night, showers, soirees etc... )

A fitted bodice is key for a well fitting midi dress.  It highlights the figure and prevents the dress from overwhelming.

This dress caught my eye for it's mix of rich and pastel colors and larger bold print.  Typically I'd gravitate to liberty floral prints in softer shades but I'm find I'm liking darker florals.

For most Easter isn't even on the radar, but it's my most favorite holiday ( He is Risen!) and choosing my Easter dress is a big deal.  I'm seriously thinking a midi floral will be perfect!
