Berry Good

One of my favorite things about Spring is all the fresh picked fruit.  I'm not into food but I love sweet and refreshing fruit.  In fact, I eat at least 3-4 types of fruit every day.

Side note: I ate watermelon last night, BIG mistake!  I was up all night visiting the bathroom.

When J Crew came out with this Berry Print, I immediately thought all american picnic.  My sister was obsessed.  She wanted all the pieces in this fun print. It's light, fun and definitely gets you into the spring/summer spirit.  Makes me want to go berry picking, bake a cobbler and head out side for a cook out.

Chambray also fits perfectly when you think of all American.  It's the 'blue' to the red white and blue color palette and denim is just timeless. Chambray being a lighter version of denim is essential to capturing the textile without having a heat stroke.
This pencil skirt brings chambray, a typically casual fabric, to a more sophisticated level with a fitted design and ruffle accent.  Perfectly acceptable in the office.

Pairing this fun fruity blouse and flirty ruffle skirt creates the perfect balance of american femininity.

Tootie Fruity for Spring!

Friday 5: American Pie

With this cold weather hitting the south all I'm dreaming of is being outside in the warm sunshine.
The first few years Mr and I were dating we used to go on picnics all the time.  In fact it was on a picnic by the water where he told me he loved me for the first time.  I'm definitely bringing back those sweet picnic dates.

These pieces have that all American, let go on a picnic (and eat pie!) vibe ...

White Lace

I'd like to say I planned this red white and blue look in honor of Presidents Day but it was just coincidence.  But, since today is a day set aside to honor this country's leaders, I will share with you this....

1Timothy 2:1-2
I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.

My obsession for white tops is going to live on forever! Lately, I find myself really loving lace. I remember shopping for my wedding gown and despising the fabric on myself. I'm still not crazy about lace dresses however I adore the feminine texture for separates.

This top is constructed in a swing style; easy breeze for the upcoming warm temps. It's full of detail from seam to seam.  The lace is more of an eyelet design and the trim is in thick woven fabric for added emphasis to the shape.  If I had to pick a sleeve length to be my favorite it would definitely be elbow.  It's slimming on the arm and not so standard, making a piece more interesting.

Last week for Valentine's Day these lace up red pumps made their debut.  Red shoes are just classic and fun.  Lace up flats are everywhere and I have a pair, but I don't find them to be comfortable.  This block heel pair is not only better fitting, they're dressy enough for work and chic enough for casual styling too.  The tasseled laces add the perfect touch.

There's just something about a white top and jeans that's simply timeless.  Crisp and Cool.

All American

In case you missed my earlier post on Gingham, or live under a rock you should be aware that this print of large checked squares is Hot Hot Hot on the scene.

It has that All American, Summer picnic vibe.   And after that visual how could you not want to go outside and enjoy a sandwich and cold lemonade?!!

In my Southern family, July 4th was celebrated with lots of enthusiasm.  Living in a free country with the abundant privileges that we have, is something to always be grateful for.  Just watch the news, we are blessed!
When I think of America I think of a home, family, hamburgers & hotdogs, backyards and simple happiness. And of course the colors red, white and blue.

Personally, those stars and stripes mean everything to me and Mr.  He serves this country as a US Navy medical officer and his father , both grandfathers and all his uncles served our country in the military. Over 100 years in combined service!!  His recent deployment although extremely hard, made me very proud of our sacrifice in protecting what we value most, our home, the USA!

I embraced the ‘American’ vibes styling this gingham top in the classic red, white & blue colors.

When it comes to white jeans "The Struggle is Real".  They're not very forgiving.  If constructed too stretchy and thin it can do a disservice to your lower body.   I'm very happy to see that straight and wide leg jeans are coming back.  Don't get me wrong I LOVE my skinnies but a looser cut on white jeans is much more favorable.

I’ll definitely be wearing this look a lot this summer J
