Ruffles On Ruffles

Gals, I love ruffles. The gathered edges create such a feminine detail. They can be as big or small as you like and in the case of this outfit I chose both! More is more.

The large sleeves on this blouse draw attention upwards towards my face and add volume to my shoulders both of which flatter by elongating my shape and slimming the waist.
The fabric is crisp so the shape of the design holds!

These shorts are super comfortable with an elastic waist to hold your tops in, pleated leg for room and a tulip hem that also gives room and creates a long leg line as opposed to a straight hem that cuts the leg straight across.
My legs are on the fuller side so these details are key for a good fit.

PS my hair will be taking a more natural and pinned back position as the humidity has arrived here in the South and it's fierce!

Cold Shoulder

This shoulder baring top is perfect for summer! The flutter sleeves add the perfect touch of femininity and the strappy design adds just the right amount of sass.

I like this design for several reasons, there’s no need for elastic like you find with off the shoulder tops, the straps offer support and allow for movement and you don’t look/feel so bare and exposed having straps.  The flutter sleeve adds a delicate element and brings a hint of that 70’s style vibe.

I also like that it’s dressy enough for an evening out but is just as chic paired with a pair of distressed jeans.  I paired it with a pair of ivory trousers for a more polished look.

This top comes in ivory and navy – my two very favorite neutrals.  I pushed myself to go with navy as my white/ivory inventory is off the charts and I’m glad I did!  It’s a nice change to add some darker shades and perfectly fitting with my white jeans.

I’ll be shimmy-shimmy shakin in this number over this July 4th Holiday!

Flutter

Surprise! I'm wearing black!  It's rare, so take note. I prefer white, ivory and navy as my neutrals.  And in this Southern Summer heat - black is never a consideration (unless it's a bikini).
Believe it or not this dress does come in white - I'm stepping out gals.

There is a way to wear black and not suffer from a heat stoke.  There's also a way to wear black beyond suiting.

This black dress is in a swiss dot cotton fabric.  It's light weight with textured raised balls/dots. The straight shift design combined with the breathable fabric makes it fitting for warm weather.   As if the swiss dot fabric wasn't enough. the sheer flutter sleeves give it extra interest and femininity.

I have very small shoulders and the added volume on the sleeve adds proportion.  I also like to keep the details and interest around the upper half of my garments, drawing the eye higher towards the face.
P.S.  Larger sleeves above the elbow are slimming on the arms

I chose light colored accessories to contrast the darkness.
Pair with heels for the office or sandals for weekend.
