Friday Favorites: Colorful Handbags

Gals, carry a little color this Summer! Sure, a neutral handbag in brown, black or navy will go with everything but a pop of color really adds style, interest and elevates your look. I also believe complimenting colors create a pretty palette that's not so expected.

No matter your personality, everyone has colors they're drawn to that make them happy and represent who they are. They don't have to be bright like a rainbow. Subtle muted colors pack just as much of a statement.

Here are some colorful handbags to add cheer to your Summer outfits ...

Small Nylon Shoulder Bag

Medium Satchel

Mini Satchel

Multi Colored Mini Satchel

Large Hobo

Gingham Small Bucket Bag

Lavender Small Bag

Light Pink Quilted Bag

Red Quilted Bag

Blue Ladylike Bag

Pretty Printed Silk Blouse

Happy almost Thanksgiving! No matter what plans you have this year I'm hoping they still include seeing those that are dear to you.  However you plan to feast, you're going to want a dinner outfit.  Now, I'm never going to pull out a pair of stretchy pants, the truth is I don't really own them, and believe even if your meal is just your immediate family that the occasion merits appropriate effort.

We are quick to point out just how different, hard and strange this year is BUT still we have an abundance of undeserved blessings to give thanks for. Let's respect the occasion with a pretty presentation.  I'm not saying dress formal, you can wear a lovely outfit and still be comfortable.

I love a printed silk blouse for it's feminine beauty and timeless style.
Pair it with a soft pair of jeans and you have a look that's practical and pretty.

Note:  While I may not support the wear of leggings (not pants) I do advocate a soft warm pair of slippers.

This blouse caught my attention months ago and I've been waiting eagerly for it to go on sale.  I scooped it up immediately when it did.  I love the gorgeous print mimicking hand painted art.  While it is primarily pastel colors, I swoon over the soft pink, there are small amounts of darker saturated tones which make styling options endless.

You could go casual with jeans or pair with colored bottoms such as ivory, other pastels or since it's Winter burgundy, navy, black or dark green. I'm planning to pair it with this leather skirt & these leather pants!

P.S. These jeans are absolutely amazing! Soft, comfortable and great length for any shoe pairing.

So many colors to pick from when it comes to styling.

This blouse is a piece you'll wear for many many years!

English Garden

Style is all about incorporating things that you love. Colors, florals, embellishments and design.  I love blue & white (it's the palette for my home decor), hydrangeas (they're my sister's favorite and I adore her) and a touch of modern details on classic silhouettes.

This dress spoke to me for all of these pretty elements. It made me feel like I belonged in an English garden sipping tea. #pinkiesup
I watched it for months, waiting for it to go on sale and when it did and arrived at my home it sparked joy!

As I always do, I replaced the fabric sash with a belt of my own.  I love that the sleeves don't overwhelm my arms/hang over my hands. The fabric has the most subtle luxurious texture. Its almost an all season dress and certainly fits across many occasions.

Wear pieces that incorporate the things that you love!

Jump Right In

Are you a jump right in kind of gal or do you think about it, maybe take a few baby steps first?

Personally, I'm rarely spontaneous and enjoy planning my endeavors. This time of quarantine has made me more intentional with so many things and I'm so grateful to have grown in that way.

Jumpsuits are something that don't require a little push for me.  I love them.  I'll first address the biggest hurdle when it comes to embracing this one piece suit ... yes, you will be practically naked every time you visit the ladies room and it will require the use of both hands to undress and dress.
#suckitup

It is easy in the fact that it's a one-step outfit, just like a dress. But you get the added bonus of the movability that comes with pants. They're wear-anywhere pieces that can be dressed up with heels, but look casual-cool when paired with your favorite sneakers.

This particular jumpsuit feels so smooth in silk and will showcase nicely for dressy occasions. The floral print, fluttery ruffles and wide legs are details that give it style

Side-note: when I found this jumpsuit I was in the weeds of selecting wallpaper for our home and thought to myself, this print would be gorgeous for home decor.  I find that I gravitate to printed garments that resemble decor textiles.

Not to drag this post out, but I just can't emphasize enough how I think a jumpsuit adds fierceness to your look.  It's different without being outlandish and in a sophisticated, confident way. Skip the dress and add some spice!

Tickled Hot Pink

It's the week of love!!! I adore Valentine's Day because, well it's all about love, and pink and hearts and so much cuteness! I'm not into the candy, flowers or stuffed animals but I'll take ALL the X's and O's!!!

While we should treat our loved ones like we do on Valentine's Day all year, it is fun to give a little extra sugar and romance.

I will never need an excuse to wear pink but I love that I get to see it in excess this time of year. I found this pink dress before Christmas and not only did the color speak my language, the draping and design is striking, soft and so flattering!

The satin fabric is draped and pulled at an angle on the neckline and waist creating a very shapely silhouette.  The longer length with side slit is elongating (yes please for this petite gal!).
This dress will span across so many occasions: showers, parties, holidays and nights out on the town.

In fact, Ryan has a physician's awards dinner tonight and I plan on wearing this exact ensemble!

I prefer darker blues as a neutral over black.  It's softer and just so pretty!
If you're typical go-to is black for dark neutrals, I encourage you to embrace navy as lighter alternate.

Friday Favorites: Bump Up The Basics

TGIF! It still hasn't sunk in yet that it's 2020 (and that my baby is 2!).  But gals, the world keeps on turning and here we are in a brand new year and decade.

My favorite ways to make my typical outfits, which are white or solid colored tops and jeans look interesting and new is to add color and print with my shoes and handbag.

Note: I am VERY proud of myself for adding a whole lot more print in my wardrobe last year ... but still NO black and heavens no grey.

One concept that I really want to emphasize to you is that it's far more fun to add color to color than color to neutrals.  What I mean is, your ensemble doesn't have to be white, black or blue jeans to add a bright color or print.

Here are some ways I add color and print to a solid outfit .....
