Friday Favorites: Sleeveless Sweaters

TGIF! I'm truly amazed that we are in November. It has me really thinking how I want to finish this year (Obviously I'm making a list - or two!). But first let's talk about dressing for the now winter season. Sure you can put on a pair of jeans and a sweater and feel dressed. But I believe that layering is where style is created.

I've been a fan of sleeveless sweaters since my early 20's. Having petite arms and a high energy personality that moves all day long bulky garments can be cumbersome for me.

MY SLEEVELESS SWEATER
4 color options

By adding a sleeveless sweater over a blouse there's less bulk and more movement and style opportunities.
Sure you can layer solids on solids but it's more interesting to have prints and unexpected pairings like pastels with dark rich tones or florals with bright colors.

Tip: styling blouses & dresses that alone wouldn't be warm enough under a sleeveless sweater is also smart in utilizing your wardrobe!

Friday Favorites: Sleeveless Sweater

TGIF! Gals, it's that awkward time of year where all you see is warm cozy Fall things while the temperature is still blazing hot!

Sweater weather is still quite a bit away but I do feel the urge to ditch my tanks for knits. I present to you the option of a sleeveless sweater! They're a bit heavier while in a sleeveless design still light. They're great for layering over long sleeves and under jackets when the temperatures do fall.

Here are some beautiful sleeveless sweaters ...

Sorta Sweater Weather

Gals, I live in the South, our idea of sweater weather is milder than our northern friends. And right now it's that time of year where the mornings and evenings have you needing a jacket while the afternoons still have you sweating.

I'm all about a sleeveless sweater. You still get that cozy wrapped up in warmth feeling but your arms get to feel the air keeping your temperature balanced.

Note: because of the drop shoulder sleeve/large arm holes (slimming by the way) you'll need a cami/tank underneath.

You can layer this one when it's cool all day with a basic long sleeve tee or a crisp button up for a dressier look. I think a denim shirt would be a great option too!
Since this one is oversized I did a little front tuck to keep from looking overwhelmed.

Can you spy my sidekick :)

Friday Favorites: Sleeveless Sweaters

TGIF! Soon I'll be able to write TGI-Fall but not quite yet folks. Simmer down all you pumpkin lovers it's still hot as the dickens outside.

Fun Fact: I hate all things pumpkin flavored - which is a shame b/c Trader Joes will flavor just about any food item with pumpkin spice this time of year.

Since college I've been wearing and layering sleeveless knits.  I love them because they bring the warmth but in a shapely, moderate way.  I have and always will live in the South and a full on sweater just isn't needed very often here. Ease of movement is very important to me too and being petite I find long sleeves cumbersome. When I was in the office I wore knit shells over my crisp collared shirts all the time, often toped with a blazer.

I'm ecstatic that sleeveless sweaters are out in plethora this season to wear solo when they weather's just right and for layering in the cold!

Sleeveless Sweater

Gals, it’s been a few days now of chilly mornings and evenings – I hesitate to say it but I believe Fall is finally here!

Having baby girl in my belly has me warmer than normal.  I’ve taken the extra blanket off of our bed and I don’t wear socks when I sleep anymore.
I worry I may freeze Mr out this winter.

I’ve also been taking advantage of the cooler weather and exercising outside.

This sleeveless sweater is the perfect piece this time of year.  It’s so soft and cozy but not too warm that come lunch time you’re sweating.

Note: it's not maternity so for the 99% who are readying that don't have a bump keep reading

I prefer sleeveless pieces for these reasons:
  •         I have petite arms and it’s sloppy and annoying to have sleeves hanging over my hands
  •        I work hard on my arms in the gym and like to show them off
  •        Easy to layer
  •        Unrestricted movement
This sweater is designed for such a flattering fit with a turtleneck that isn’t bulky or smothering, a wider shoulder - almost cap sleeve that conceals and helps create an hourglass shape, side slits so that it lays nicely, and cable knit that’s vertical only down the center front (it can add bulk when all over).

I also love the oatmeal color of this sweater – light and neutral to pair with anything. I went with my go-to favorite pants these days in black and continued the neutral theme but in a print with leopard calf hair loafers.
If you do not own leopard calf hair shoes – go get some!  These are soooo comfortable! I love the pointed toe and can wear them with anything. I have a pair of pumps too.
My love of leopard is fierce – I even have a maternity top and dress in leopard #naturally.

Oh and how about I’m wearing this exact look in real life today! Minus the bracelets – they can sometimes be a bother when working at my desk typing.

AND this sweater is on major sale right now – so you need to have it J

PS for when it really does get cold try layering a fitted white or striped tee underneath – or even a dress shirt.

Charcoal

Charcoal jeans are my favorite addition this Fall.  They still go with everything your standard blue jeans go with because grey is a neutral.  Think about how you style your grey trousers for the office, the same color pairings apply but in a more casual way.

One of my struggles with traditional blue jeans is that styled with dark blue tops/sweaters your look becomes monochromatic and the prettiness of the top/sweater can get lost in the sea of blue.

Charcoal jeans will show off those blues and for that matter all colors.  Go light or dark the sky's the limit.  Grey is one of those soft neutrals that adds freshness to a look.  It also add an edgy element/vibe.  After wearing these grey jeans, 2 of my gal pals have now added them to their closets. They're a great fit, wash and price point.

I went with the classic black and white palette.  Since Fall temps can literally swing 50 degrees throughout the day, a sleeveless sweater is a nice balance of warmth.  Now, these over the knee boots have been front and center the past few posts #sorrynotsorry.  To say I love them is an understatement.  They're a soft black suede, fit my legs like a glove and have cute ties in the back to hold them in place.  But the Best part is the gold block heel! Swoon!
These shine with style and comfort.

One of my sweet readers and gal pals requested for me to show you how to wear these over the knee boots with pants.  I'm all about it as my inventory of hemlines that fall above the knee is limited. Just keepin it classy.

There's a method here gals ....

- Opt for skinny snug jeans or riding pants
- Thin ankle socks
- Fold the boots down (if there is no zipper) and place your foot into the boots
- Fold the boots up and over your pants similar to how you would put on tights

This will eliminate the struggle of shoving/bunching that happens when stepping into the boots from the top as your pants come up too.

This season add some variety to your denim with charcoal jeans and chicness to your look with over the knee boots.

Summer Sweater

Living in the South, sweaters aren’t a huge piece of our wardrobe.  And you never hear the word sweater come Summer time.
BUT it is indeed possible to enjoy the nice soft texture of a knit and not melt.

The key is cotton, loose knit and light design.  This sleeveless shell sweater fits the bill.

It’s not a dense weave but rather thicker yard and ‘holey’ so there is a sheer element.  Choose your undergarments wisely.
In a longer tunic design it lays nicely.

I styled it with navy trousers and pumps for a business casual look.  Pair it with distressed jeans or shorts for the weekend.

Just for Fun :)
