A Little Bit Classy, A Little Bit Modern

A ladylike jacket made of tweed and shiny gold buttons is the epitome of class.  But I don't want to look like I'm wearing a Jackie O. costume. I believe the way to style the classics is to marry those pieces with modern and casual elements.

For me it's easy, I take distressed jeans and top them with structured more formal pieces for a balanced look that's chic and every day appropriate.  Adding jeans to blouses and tops you would typically wear to work, church or dressy occasions allows you to get the most our of your wardrobe and creates a pretty outfit for the weekend. Y'all know I'm not a comfy/athleisure wear kind of gal.

I encourage you to try mixing tweed and torn up jeans this Spring.

My darling with me always. She was making her list of things to do (wonder where she got that from) while I tried to snap these pics.

Friday Favorites: Time for Tweed

Gals, the temperatures are telling me it's time for tweed! I will happily oblige and wear it beautifully. Tweed is one of my most favorite fabrics for it's thick woven texture of gorgeous colors and typical ladylike designs.  Tweed is commonly accessorized with gold buttons and fringe trim. Besides being pretty it's also very warm and compliments your wardrobe from suiting to jeans.

When dressing up, you can certainly pair tweed with neutral solids and pearls for a very midcentury classic look but when wearing it casually you can go all the way to the other extreme with distressed jeans, mixed prints (stripes or animal) and even sneakers.

I believe it's important that garments be versitile which is a smart investment and makes for endless style options.  Because you are anything but basic or boring!

Here are some tweed jackets that will dress any outfit beautifully ...

LBD: Day to Night

Versatility is a key element of style.  It's important to be able to utilize your garments in multiple ways so that you not only reap the rewards of your investment but that you keep your looks fresh.

Fridays are for date nights, happy hours and in my case binge watching the new 'Fuller House' on Netflix.  But if I were going out with Mr or the gals, a LBD is always the right choice.  And since it's just straight up too much work to change into a completely different outfit, wearing a dress that can simply be transformed with new accessories is paramount.

For day pair with a lady like jacket and modest heels.

For night ditch the jacket and work bag and go for a higher heel and clutch.

I find that choosing a dress constructed with lots of stretch like this one holds it shape, hugs in just the right places and creates a flattering silhouette.  It's not too showy but does have interest with leather and cutouts at the neckline.  It doesn't take much ladies.  Less is more often more!

Though a LBD is classic and flattering don't limit yourself to a solid dark hue, these styling tips apply to any dress that makes you feel pretty.
