Friday Favorites: Finds Under $50

TGIF! We've spent this week in the most fun way, at the pool splashing with our friends! When it comes to shopping, the most fun way to do it is at a good price.

I found this fabulous crisp cotton maxi on one of my target runs and sadly it's not online and I've been checking for you! All I can say is check your local stores and scoop this number up!!!
It's by Who What Wear

Now, I know some gals just get overwhelmed with 'hunting' through the racks (at least now you just scroll from your couch) for discounted pieces. I'm going to share some that I've found that are on trend and on budget.

Palm Beach Ready

Gals, I love a printed pant. This palm print is particularly striking as it has a retro summer vibe. The fabric is a woven grasscloth that gives it a bit of structure while still light enough for for sunny days. The bold bright colors & black neutral base can easily go right into the fall with denim, a light sweater or Moto jacket.

A crisp cotton white top is my #1 for pairing with just about everything all year long, but in the summer it's the best for staying and looking cool.

I went dressy styling these palm pants, probably because I miss having places and occasions to be dressy so much I'll take every opportunity I can to polish up (even if it's just for this blog).
A loafer or ballet flat fits for indoor days while a flat or wedge sandal would be so pretty for the outdoors.

Alining with the vintage feels I layered my shiniest gold baubles and a 1970's vintage wood beaded bag. I feel I should be down in Florida ... sigh I guess I'll have to just settle for looking the part.

Bonus: This print is available in a topdress (soooo flattering), short, and a tiered & pencil skirt

Alfresco

Happy Monday Gals! When it comes to living my best life (I find that phrase annoying but durn, it really fits) I do it alfresco.  Growing up and as an adult, enjoying meals outside and activities when the weather would allow was a given. There's something about fresh air that makes you at easy.  Stepping outside can wash away your troubles and shed light on the goodness around you.
And life is just more fun under the sun!

I've been finding ways to do as much as I can outside. Of course I play with Vivian, but I mean tasks or activities that I just habitually do inside our home I've taken out to our patio.
From devotionals, reading, working on the computer, painting my nails, exercising, phone/video calls, meals, games ... and my favorite, date night!!! (we leave our phones inside and enjoy just us two)

Tea Parties are a regular on the Patio ... and sometimes while still in our night-nights.

Now, I know I was just sharing on Friday's post that it's been hotter than hades outside and AC is as essential as food and water but find you a shady spot in the first and last hours of the day and you will survive!

Vivian's 1st Popsicle!

Our patio is one of my favorite things about our home because it is a great space to do all the things in the open air.  Now, I haven't focused on sharing it because it's 'not ready'. Meaning, we want new furniture, an umbrella, stringing lights and it needs a good power wash.  But I was reminded of encouragement I often share, that waiting until something is 'perfect' holds you back. It may not be exactly what we want right now, but it's exactly what we need for creating fun memories!

So I hope you not only find a cool place outside to enjoy but that you step out just as you are, open your home just as it is and let the pressure of perfection go!!!

I can't ignore the fashion element of being in the elements ... cotton is king! Light weight natural fibers like cotton and linen are the only ones that will do on a hot summer day.

Here's where we cheers to the good life, alfresco!

Turning around towards the backyard, we use the double driveway to set up her splash pad.

Mammas, playing outside is the greatest fun you'll have with your family and yourself!

Friday Favorites: Summer of Simpler Style

TGIF! Summer is blazing along! Seriously, the heat and humidity are intensely high making survival more of a priority than style.  But you gals know me, I'm not throwing style out with the weather.

Personally, I believe a simpler approach to beauty and fashion is the most beautiful.  In my younger years I was heavy on the makeup, meticulous with my curled coiffure and poised with my fitted outfits.

Sidenote: Let's be real, I'm out of the office and play with a toddler so I've had to become slightly more practical with my look ... also none of us are going anywhere these days but the pool! so I'm reluctantly showing you my swimsuits below Ekkk

These days, I'm embracing my natural curls, a 5 min (or less) face and easy breezy ensembles that won't have me puddled (there's no 'glow' about it in July, I sweat!).

Here are my favorites for a Simpler Summer Style ...

BEAUTY

Wearing my mane the way God made it, wavy and wild!
I add this cream to it in sections right after the shower while damp and scrunched it up. It's soft and light.
It saves me so much time and is healthier to skip the heat of the blowdryer & curling iron.
Some gal pals recommended this one and this one.

First and Foremost
SUNSCREEN

I love this brand Super Goop
DO NOT EVER leave your home without sunscreen.
I don't want to preach but it's essential to your health (and beauty - I'm 100% against wrinkles)

If you don't want to be bare - a quick rub of a cc cream all over, even under your eyes will do the trick and won't be as heavy.

An all in one palette for contour, blush and highlight is quick and easy to bring your face to life.

A little glimmer on the eyes - lots of color options

Fill in your brows - I've been using this one for years

Optional: A light eyeliner - I like this deep wine color or brown

Mascara is a must

A sweet tinted gloss

TA - DA!
A little color that's natural looking will do you wonders.

FASHION

SWIMWEAR

Sigh swimsuits ... I can't believe I'm even posting these pics!
I may delete later
There are a ton of swimsuits out there and like jeans and bras they're so hard to fit.
I like these for their coverage while still cute and youthful.

One Piece Version - 8 color options

This one is great for mixing and matching with black

One shoulder is my favorite for swim and dresses in the Summer!

I highly recommend J Crew's swimwear - love these leopard print options.

A sarong (over 20 options) is great for throwing on for the walk to and from the pool.

As for sandals, I'm all about a slide on and go pair.
Metallics are my favorite for making a look appear dressier.
