Friday Favorites: Black Beauties

TGIF! It's Halloween Eve and I have some Spooktacular black beauties to share with you.

Let's talk about the color black.  I don't wear it very often because it is so dark and I have a love of all things light and bright which is why white is my most favorite neutral to wear. Black can often camouflage the details of a garment, but it can also be camouflaging on the figure in a flattering way.

I believe the key to wearing black is all about the fabric and shape of a garment. Dark as it may be it is a sharp classic color making everything else stand out, your face, hair, jewelry and shoes.

Here are some beautiful black pieces in pretty fabrics and strong shapes:

Croc Crop Top

Fall fashion is all about the layers.  The weather is not too warm and not too cold, it's just right. When layering you want to avoid adding bulk. I've never met a gal that wanted to look like a big knit pile. The key to building pieces is to use texture and mix proportions.

I love to add fitted cropped pieces to blouses & dresses because they add shape and the hem sits right at the smallest part of your waist creating narrow line & hourglass silhouette.
Fitted sweater shells/vests, cropped jackets & cardigans all add warmth, shape and texture.  Faux leather is one of my favorite ways to add modern style.

Mamma Monday: Target Treasures

When you become a Mamma, they should tell you that you're best friend aka sister wife is going to be Target.  I'm not discrediting all those handy dandy baby gadgets but the real MVP is Target. Sure you made target runs before but now, it's your place of escape and wonder. You aren't just picking up what you need and what you don't need, you're strolling up and down the aisle, sipping a coffee and enjoying the escape. My darling Vivian isn't a baby anymore but our trips are just as essential.  It's open early, it has it all and the staff is almost as happy to help you as Chick-fil-a's.

It's a one stop shop, including clothing!

Here are some tips for shopping target apparel:
1. Opt for classic & solid pieces
2. Style with high end accessories
3. Stick to the women's dept (avoid juniors)

Note: I've never purchased from the other departments (athletic, intimates, accessories or shoes) so I can't speak to it.
