Friday Favorites: Target Finds

TGIF! I hope you are finding so much joy in this Christmas season! It's full of hustle and bustle but also opportunities to have fun and celebrate with others. Today I hosted a Christmas coffee for the 1st grade mothers at Vivian's school. I loved using my Christmas dishes and taking a little time in the morning to sit and chit chat.

With all the target trips for gifts and everyday things I've found some really. ice pieces that are versatile and stylish for the winter season.

Casual & Cute

I'm a dressy girl. I love to dress up and as my sisters and friends point out I don't have a lot of casual clothes. You know what I say to that, yes! I wear what I find beautiful and what makes me feel beautiful.

And when I am causal, it's cute :)

Sure jeans and a tee are a timeless go-to but I find it refreshing to add an easy pieces in new ways. A jumpsuit is comfortable and practical (pockets!). Think of it like a dress with legs and just a little more effort in the ladies room.

Style Tip: adding jewelry, heels and a small bag would dress this up from the park to patio.

Fun Fact: I prefer sleeveless designs so I just may take a pair of scissors to this jumpsuit. I cut my jeans for a raw hem all the time and since this is denim I believe it will add a modern touch.
It will be cooler in the summer and allow for layering.

I go through seasons with Target when it comes to apparel for myself.  But I have found a few pieces recently that are stylish and practical across occasions.

Like these ...

Sharp Dressed Girl

Everybody's crazy about a sharp dressed girl! We all want to be cool and comfortable in these warm months but we shouldn't have to compromise on style. A vest is a great option for adding a tailored piece this season. Designed in lighter fabrics and colors they bring elements of structure and sharpness into a causal look.

To me they add sophistication in a modern way.

Tip: Pair with a loose bottom like pleated shorts or skirts and wide leg pants for balance.

I paired this white linen vest with a light wash wide leg crop jean. It's comfortable & causal yet very sharp!

Vest (also in tan & black) - Wide Leg Jeans - Platform Heels

This linen vest is fun in a pink color. I balanced with a white trouser jean. This outfit has the look of a suit but relaxed. These jeans will be my go to this summer! They're much lighter than a skinny pair as they are roomier on the leg and also make you appear taller!

Friday Favorites: Shorts that Flatter

TGIF! We've been on Spring Break this week visiting Vivian's Granny & Papa while Ryan takes a work assignment nearby on the coast. Gals, it's been a dream! I've slept longer, relaxed and enjoyed restful hobbies like puzzles and reading. I'm most grateful for the break from cooking, cleaning and the every day hustle.

My shorts - I have 3 pairs in various washes
Note: I went up a size in these and should have stayed with my normal size
as the waist and hips are too roomy

Spring break kicks off a season for all things warm, fun and outdoors. With that comes clothing that is cool and practical. Shorts are a key element to that. Prior to motherhood I didn't have to confront my disdain for shorts very often but in this season of outdoor play I find that I wear them the most UGH

Confession: my legs are my least liked when it comes to my physical appearance. I work on gratitude and appreciation for them daily.

As with my approach with all fashion, I look for design elements that flatter my figure.

Here are the 5 things I look for in shorts:

1. 4-4.5" inseam - this length is just right ... any shorter or longer is a bit unflattering for me
2. Wide leg opening - extra room in the leg creates a slimming look and is more comfortable
3. High Rise - 8-9" rise ... any higher or shorter is a bit unflattering for me
4. Thick Fabric - a dense fabric holds it's shape creating a structured silhouette
5. Skimming Shape - I often go up 1 size for a fit that just touches

I find these shorts to be flattering for all ...

These are my FAVORITE!
I have multiple pairs in a variety of washes and wear them the most!

I found these this week and ordered a pair - available in 7 washes
I love the flare leg! So flattering!

I have the flax & pink colors in my cart (also in white & black)
I love how dressy they are - can be styled for a night out with a heel

5 vibrant colors - I have a pair of these

5 colors - I ordered a pair of these

also in solid pink, tan & light blue

Matching Set

Matching sets are an elevated outfit in the sense that they aren't common and to have a top & bottom in the exact same fabric & print is very intentional. You can pair a top and skirt that compliment beautifully but to have them be an exact pair is literally perfect. When you have a matching set together you get a seamless look with the added benefit of styling them separately.

The modern design of this top and tiered mini skirt is so pretty with the vintage bock print.

Bonus: You can choose different sizes! I'm wearing an XS on top and S on the bottom.

Tip: a white top or jean is an easy & bright pairing for styling these pieces apart
but don't be afraid to pair a color from the print like a pink or green.
