Gals, you ever click on something pretty online only to hunch down when you see the splurge price tag? That happens to me a lot! I saw this matching maxi skirt and top set several months ago and have kept an eye on it just hoping it would go on sale (and have my size). Well, sure enough, it did! 

Note: Gals, what matters when dressing is that you believe it's beautiful and that you feel beautiful in it! 

Tip: look for splurge items on resale sites ... I've had great luck on TheRealReal & Poshmark - I even sell here! 

I love a dip dye! It looks so cool to me the way the colors run together. I will wear these pieces together this summer but also plan to style them separately.  The top being a bit cropped will have to be layered with a crisp button down (or over a dress) and with a high waisted bottom for day time wear

Note: showing your midsection is best for evenings and vacation! 

The bubble top is a modern trend. I find it stylish to have a few interesting designs to mix in your wardrobe.  The dyed neckline acts as a necklace/collar highlighting you face, neck & shoulders.

This maxi skirt will be a year round piece that pairs with tanks, tees, blouses, sweaters and jackets.

Personally, I think a peachy pink color would complement beautifully!

Matching Set

 Matching sets are an elevated outfit in the sense that they aren't common and to have a top & bottom in the exact same fabric & print is very intentional. You can pair a top and skirt that compliment beautifully but to have them be an exact pair is literally perfect. When you have a matching set together you get a seamless look with the added benefit of styling them separately. 

The modern design of this top and tiered mini skirt is so pretty with the vintage bock print.

Bonus: You can choose different sizes! I'm wearing an XS on top and S on the bottom.

Tip: a white top or jean is an easy & bright pairing for styling these pieces apart 

but don't be afraid to pair a color from the print like a pink or green.

Resort Wear

Gals these are the days of all the vacations! Escapes from life's routine for relaxation and fun. When it comes to resort wear I want pieces that stand out with color, print and designs that are far from what I'd wear to work, at home or church. I want outfits that are special.

A matching set is a fantastic way to have just that! 

I loved this wide leg and crop top set for the abstract zebra print (soft but bold), neutral colors (rust is not your average neutral) and sophisticated yet feminine cut. 

This look has options:

Top on or off the shoulders (I like on for movement & ability to wear a bra)

Swap the pants for a maxi skirt or white jeans.

Swap the top for a white button up or simple tank.

My favorite color pairings would be aqua, purple, green or blue ... the skies the limit!

I love matching sets! They're intentional in their purpose of two pieces made of the same fabric while at the same time giving way to so many style options split apart. This particular set is a cute one for Summer. 

*Disclaimer - I know crop tops aren't for everyone (I'm not wearing it to church for crying out loud) but styled tastefully with high waisted bottoms I'm sure your Mamma won't have a stroke... even if she doesn't quite approve.

A maxi skirt is my fav to pair with cropped tops. 

With a high waist and full length the proportions are balanced

High waisted wide leg pants are also a great option for a long sleek look and balance.

Note: I'm wearing my normal size but in petite in these pants

If you are going to opt for shorts, make them high waisted and a tad longer.

A structured pair adds sophistication to compensation for all the exposed skin.

I love a peplum top with A-line skirts. They add an extra layer of fun!

I think most gals assume you need to tuck in a top for waist definition - but the peplum already has that and it adds extra structure. 

You can't go wrong with a cotton tank on a hot Summer day!

A little loose tuck adds just the right shape.

I also wear petite in this tank.

Classic denim just goes great with everything!

Dress Up Room

Hi Gals! I really had intentions of 'skipping' an outfit post this Wednesday since it's Spring Break and I just shared on Monday's post that I wanted to take breaks this week. Sigh, I just have this urge to stay consistent and productive.  I can be hard on myself #typeA! 

I stopped into J.Crew Factory yesterday and found the cutest pieces at pretty prices so here we are with today's post. Vivian loves going into 'Dress Up Rooms' with me to try on clothes. I giggle, I'll forever call them that and this session did not disappoint.

Let's start with this berry cute strawberry dress :) The BEST part is that it comes in an identical matching one for little girls squeal! Naturally I had to have them for my darling and I. Vivian's size is on order and when it arrives I assure you, you'll see Mommy and Me pictures!

I also found this matching set.  A tank top and maxi skirt, two of my favorite pieces for comfort and staying cool in the summer. I love them together for a cohesive look but plan to split them pairing with white jeans/shorts and a crisp white shirt (probably tied at the waist).

This print is very 'chinoiserie' and if you're like me you'll be walking around styled to match your home decor. #blueandwhiteforever

Dear Daisy - Loves Me!

Gals, I absolutely adore matching sets! Here's why, they give you the streamlined look of a dress or suit but with so many style options. I also find that matching sets are rare to find these days so it makes them that much more appealing when you do. 

This one throws me back to my glory days of the 90's when black daisy prints were all the rage! But this go around the design is more sophisticated. 5 stars that the flowers are in a thick embroidery on nice cotton poplin fabric. I still plan to pair this structured crop top with denim shorts like I would back then but this time skipping the chocker necklace and chunky shoes #blessssss 

It will also be pretty paired with white jeans, pencil skirt for church and any color of the rainbow.

Same for the skirt.  A crisp white collared shirt, denim shirt or a t-shirt/blouse in color will pair beautifully.

Mixing pieces allows you to exercise creativity that showcases your style. It's also smart to be versatile with your wardrobe to maximize your investment and wear.

I'm wearing a heeling sandal with the set matched but as I style them I plan to mix in flat sandals and sneakers!
