Trousers for a Good Time

Tis the season for dressing festive! In a world that's gone oh so causal I believe occasions that take us out of the cozy and into the glam does us well! As I create this post I'm sitting in a sweatshirt, jeans and sneakers (they do sparkle!) and while this is great for day-to-day I stand taller, walk more confident and have more fun when I'm all gussied up.

A wide leg trouser is a great option! Especially in a bold color.

Note: You don't have to don sequins, a gown or opulent pieces to be dressy. I find the more sleek and sophisticated an outfit the nicer the look.

Trousers paired with fun tops are comfortable, elongate the body, and aren't a one time wear like a lot of holiday pieces.

I paired this hot pink pair with a faux fur leopard jacket (found it at a thrift shop for $5!) and clutch for a look that's bold but not overly specific to the holidays. I can opt for a sweater, blouse or button up with boots for day time or less formal occasion.

Try a pair of wide leg trousers for your next soiree styled with heels and a sassy top and I guarantee you'll look and feel beautiful!

Friday Favorites: Trousers

TGIF! Today I want to share my take on trousers. I've always loved them when I was in the office. They made me feel professional and sophisticated.  Now, I'm seeing them everywhere styled for all types of occasions and I'm thrilled.

I find true to size - I'm wearing petite and only need a low heel

In a high waisted and wide leg design I find them super flattering. They highlight the waist and float away from the legs which is slimming. Similar to a maxi skirt but with separated legs. While I'm normally opposed to an elastic waist because it tends to create volume on the lower abdomen and derriere I'm seeing a lot of trousers with a wider waist band with a flat front and elastic just on the back. This is actually very comfortable and shapely.

When styled with pieces that don't resemble work wear like an embellished top or basic tee/sweatshirt you get a balance look that's polished, modern and comfortable.

I'm not cool enough to do it, but wearing sneakers with trousers is super on trend!

Here are some trousers that I think are pretty:

Also in black which I have too! and petite sizing

also in ivory

also in beige

I think these are so fun. - treat the golden color as a neutral and pair with other colors like plum and royal blue!

would really add variety to your denim collection

Well Suited

You're always sure to look sharp in a suit but what I've noticed is that the suit has diminished in the work place. Business casual is the 'new' standard for work place dress code. While it's so nice to mix and match bringing more color, prints and designs to the office there's something empowering about tailored wool and crisp dress shirts.

But a suit doesn't have to be boring, and no gal wants to look masculine either.  For this look I went lighter with a soft grey and bright white dress shirt.  Rather than the typical matching jacket I opted for shell vest.  My favorite element is that this blouse comes with a detachable neck tie that's adds the right touch of femininity tied in a bow.  But you can always keep it classic and skip the sash,

These 3 pieces are timeless foundation garments.  You can wear theses grey trousers with blouses and sweaters of all colors and patterns.  The shell can be worn alone, over blouses or under jackets and cardigans.  And it's not just for trousers or pencil skirts, it's super chic with jeans.  This crisp dress shirt literally goes with everything! These are the garments that are the building blocks for a classic wardrobe.
