Blue Jean Blouses

Just like a pair of jeans, a denim blouse is one of, if not the most, versatile pieces in your wardrobe. Pair it with colors, patterns, skirts, over dresses and even with its own kind, a pair of jeans.

I like to style a blue jean blouse with a dressy skirt or pants for a balanced look.

Here are some pretty blue jean blouses ...

Friday Favorites: Denim Tops

I love denim and particularly dressing in denim tops. Denim has a heavier weight to it so it's a good fit for cooler temperatures. Just like denim on the bottom, denim tops compliment everything.

While a classic piece, with modern detailing it's far from boring.

Here are several denim tops that will pair beautifully with everything!

Friday Favorites: Blue & White Motif

Good Friday blessings to you! May we remember, we are saved not by what we do but by what Christ has done.
It is finished!

Spend today and this Easter weekend enjoying the blessings God has generously given you. Soak up the joy with the people you do have around you to help diminish the sadness of missing those you can not see. Gracious, I'm heartbroken to not be worshiping in our church, hugging on my Mamma and watching Vivian hunt eggs with her cousins. But praise for technology that allows us to video and love that knows no distance

On a colorful note, I love a blue and white motif.  I mean, I live in it as it's the design palette of our home. It's a cool and calm contrasting pairing and it's something Ryan and I both agree on. He's a UNC Chapel Hill alum so Carolina blue is his favorite.

There something refreshing and very classic about blue and white.  It's truly my favorite combination!

Here are several beautiful blue and white pieces I'm loving ...

Capsule Wardrobe Essentials: Chambray & White

I know you've heard and seen the term 'capsule wardrobe' but what is it? Basically it's a 'mini wardrobe made up of really versatile pieces that you totally love to wear.'  I'm 100% guilty of NOT having a capsule wardrobe.  But, I'm not the hoarder of clothes I used to be either. #balance

I adore the principles of a capsule wardrobe.  Having very few pieces, most recommend around 40, that can be paired in many ways and repeated to eliminate excess in your closet.  While I believe a minimal approach is amazing in almost all aspects of your life, I just can't (don't want) to purge down to that level when it comes to my clothes.

What you will find is that about 75% of my wardrobe is made up of classic, timeless pieces so that I do achieve versatility and longevity.

For example: I wore my wedding rehearsal dress from 9 years ago this past Sunday for Easter.

If I were to create a capsule wardrobe there would be white jeans and a chambray top.  I can NOT live without lots and lots of white and chambray is so clean, fresh and comfortable matching pretty much everything!

For a current approach, these wide leg crop jeans and puff sleeve top check all the trend boxes.  Personally I'm obsessed with a puff sleeve.  I have narrow shoulders and it adds a feminine detail that balances my figure.  And the wide leg crops are super relaxed and really show off your shoes.

My style is polished so I had to tuck and add a belt. It's those touches that define your personal style.

Mamma Monday: Tops for the Nursing Mamma

Hey Gals!

I've been meaning to share with you tops that are friendly for the nursing mamma. Because unless it's a shirt dress you're sentenced to a two piece wardrobe for this phase of life.

Confession:  I'm more than a little frustrated with the lack of fashion freedom due to the size of my chest and access needed for nursing. Motherhood = sacrifice! It is only temporary I tell myself over and over again when I want to quit every. single. day.

However, I've been able to find tops in my same size (I'm not buying something that I can't wear later - bad investment) that are on trend but allow me to easily feed baby girl if needed.  Not that I do it much outside my home, well basically I avoid it at all costs but there are times.

You want to look for tops that are looser or have a more boxy shape to them so that you can easily lift up or unbutton. Also, try fun colors and prints because we deserve to still feel pretty even when it's Alllll about the babies!

Be careful of tees and tanks that you don't stretch them out lifting.

Here are some tops I've found that function and are fashionable ...

This classic cotton top has invisible zippers! So cool and one of my favorites!

This pretty pink button down in a looser fit and tie front is not only trending but super comfortable for the summer.  I've worn it several times now with jeans, skirts, and even a pair of joggers.
PS I also have the strawberry version - both in size xxs

This green blouse adds not only color but beautiful detail in the embroidery!
This is an example of a boxy straight cut top that has just enough room to lift up but not too big that you look sloppy.

This floral lace top in pink is one of my absolute favorites! I wore it on my birthday :)
Seriously, Kate Spade makes the pretties clothes!!

A classic stripe button down. Goes with everything and this one is great because it is super light and and a slightly longer sleeve (just above the elbow) Leave them down or roll them up.

The workhorse for your wardrobe, the chambray shirt.  This one is super soft and there's nothing in your closet it won't pair nicely with.

If you're a nursing Mamma like me 1st, you rock! (hardest thing I've ever done) 2nd I hope you find some of these tops to your liking or at least find some inspiration for dressing because it's important to dress beautifully even when you have to halfway undress several times a day.
