Chartreuse Sunroom

Every now and then I get a 'wild hair' ... meaning a spontaneous impulse to do something. Most often it's a home design project and sure enough this weekend that was the case! I had actually decided when making my Summer list that I wasn't going to tackle any rooms until after school started. I should know myself better haha

I decided to add chartreuse paint to our sunroom!

Our sunroom is the room that literally lights up my days. It's surrounded by windows where I can see the sunrise, bird watch and enjoy the beautiful scenery of God's creation. It also houses bunny Ethel and several plants I've been tending for years.

I've felt like the white walls, while clean and bright were not complimentary to the rich bold colors in the room or the nature surrounding it.

Now the art, furniture, floor and windows really POP!!!

Since purchasing our home we've designed this room to look like a conservatory with classic black & white tile flooring, bold tropical furniture and pretty art.  This post shares our sunroom transformation from the beginning.

Fun Fact: I painted the sunroom in our first home the same chartreuse color.

Tip: I paint the air vents and switch/outlet plates.

Like my gal pals says "white wall are not me!"

Chartreuse & Checks

Warning:  My gingham game is strong this season #noshame

These pants are in my favorite fit! I like them so much I've collected 6 pairs (some solids some prints).  They sit perfect on my waist and in a tailored ankle length are perfect for flats and heels.

This gingham pair is so fun for Spring/Summer.  I love that it's navy, my favorite neutral, and that the print isn't too small or big.  I wanted to pair them with a fun color so I went with chartreuse.  Think of it as lemon-lime.  I actually painted my sunroom chartreuse.  I really need to get around to posting more of my home design!

You gals know I'm all about white and a white blazer really brightens and compliments any color or print.  While I haven't worn this blazer in real life because it's not quite time (after Easter gals!) it's a sophisticated staple for Summer.

You're going to see a whole lot more gingham in the upcoming weeks with lots of fun colors and styles :)

Functional cuff buttons are a must for my blazers!  They add detail and allow for cuffing.  It adds a fun casual element to let the lining show.

Chartreuse

Chartreuse is the color precisely between green and yellow, so it’s 50% green an 50% yellow.  If that’s hard for you to picture just think about mixing lemons and limes.

Personally, I feel that it’s a forgotten color.  You could even say it’s a ‘unique’ color and somewhat stringent.  It’s bright and bold but on the other hand it plays well with other colors.  Mixed with pastels, jewel tones and dark neutrals, chartreuse pops!

I find that a lot of gals including myself find it difficult to wear bright yellow.  Chartreuse is the perfect shade to give you that lively look but slightly toned down.

Side Note:  I’ve brought chartreuse into the interior design of our home … stay tuned to see how and where!

I went with a bright summer look and paired this chartreuse blouse with a white eyelet skirt for pattern and texture, a soft pastel pink bag for softness & added color and a dark tortoise bracelet for a pop of contrast and shine.  With all my outfits I strive to incorporate the elements of color, texture, pattern and shine.
