Friday Favorites: Spring Shoes

TGIF! Gals, the time has come to get your piggies polished up b/c sandal season is upon us!

Not So Fun Fact: Ryan & my sisters know & my gal pals are slowly but surely coming to know, that I have the world's worst feet! Ok maybe not the world's worst, but they're bad. No lie! I have calluses, cracked heels, bunions on both feet, tiny nails and arthritis that makes me cry from time to time.  But I keep on truckin!

I refuse to let my feet take me out of cute shoes, but I am more practical than I was in my younger years. If they aren't comfortable I don't buy/wear them. I also primarily wear nude shoes because along with bad feet I have big ole ankles (Ryan calls them sturdy - he's lucky we're married because durn that's harsh ... but true). Nude shoes elongate the leg and are a soft neutral to pair with my outfits. They go with absolutely everything making them a smart investment.

I also like to move around with easy so my shoes have to be walkable #momlife.  Along with comfort I value quality.  Well made shoes will last and last. The photo memories that pop up remind me of just how long I've had some of my shoes.  I've even resoled some.  Quality shoes aren't the cheapest but they do wear the best being made of natural materials that conform to your feet.  Italians win for making the best.
When purchasing 'trendy' shoes I don't spend as much but I do make sure they're comfortable.

Here's my Spring Shoe Line Up ... in the Nude! hehe

Friday Favorites: Dress Like a Duchess

When it comes to styles to emulate, Princess Kate is at the top of my list.  She wears classic, feminine pieces that still have modern elements making them relatable to the common gal.

And if you ever start to think she's 'out of your league', remember we're ALL human and put our pants on one leg at time.

Sidenote: Sarah means 'Princess' so I was born with a love of all things fancy!

I saw this dress (sold out as soon as she wore it) several weeks ago and when pictures of Kate wearing it came out, I was tickled pink with validation that our selections had crossed paths.  Now, she's much taller than I am and has a royal beauty team so we look very different in this dress but I still feel as pretty as a princess.

Though our American lifestyle has engagements that are more backyard than royal (gracious do I love admiring her gowns) we can still incorporate pretty dresses into our wardrobes that make us feel and look as pretty as a princess.  Adding casual pieces to a pretty dress is the key to creating a comfortable ensemble that's practical.

For example ....

I've added a Moto jacket and booties

And denim and sneakers

And when offices and churches open back up, a blazer and pumps would be a timeless touch!

Here are some dresses that I believe are perfectly fitting for a Princess ....

Eyelet Floral Midi

Tie Neck Tweed

Pleated Midi

4 additional colors

Pink Ruffled Midi

Puff Sleeve Daisy

Garden Midi

Blue Floral

Green

super splurge but so so pretty! A more reasonable option here

Pinkalicious!

Bubble gum, Barbie, Carnation or Pepto, whatever you call it, this shade of pink is the prettiest.

Billowing dresses are the thing this Summer season for they're ability to fit all, flow like a gown and keep you cool.  Now as my Mamma would stay, these shapeless 'Muumuu' dresses were for ONLY inside the house and Mrs. Mary would say 'You look like you're wearing a couch'. While this dress isn't short on fabric it does incorporate elements of design that add shape that include the ruffled slightly high-low hem, smocked neckline and puff pleated sleeves.

If you're expecting, this trend is perfecting fitting for a bump!

You gals know belts are my favorite so if the volume isn't for you, cinch it up! I love this belt with sundresses.

This dress has a back-in-the-day bridesmaid feel so keep your shoes and accessories modern to avoid looking like you've stepped out of a time capsule.

The sleeves on this one are especially puffy in the way I have the pushed up to my elbows. They actually hit mid-forearm.

I also think a flat sandal or sneakers would be cute for a casual outdoor shindig.
