Friday Favorites: Spring Shoes

Sandals in all the colors, textures and strappy styles are just as fun as the outfit you wear itself. In fact, they're actually very important because with a comfortable, cute pair of shoes you walk with a whole of confidence!

Here are some sassy shoes for Spring ...

Flip flops are everywhere but these are more substantial and dressy
several color options

Different from a wedge in that the platform is nearly flat
much more comfortable

This style is all the rage

The ankle ties are fun

Slides are all the rage! Slip on and go!
I love a bright color - Adds so much fun to a neutral or equally as colorful outfit

I got these last year and wore them every time I was dressed up!

These come in so many styes and colors
but I like this small block heel for wear across dressy and casual occasions

This gladiator style is fun!

I like a back strap to a more secure fit!
Especially running after kiddos

super comfortable - love the dressier raffia finish

These while a bit crazy are soooo comfortable - lots of color options
I went outside my box and got them!

Light & Breathable - several color options

I've been wearing these since college! They're a classic

I realize that most of what I've shared is neutral - but most of my shoes are!
I find them flattering on the leg and pair beautifully with every outfit
but a pop of color here and there is so much fun!

Friday Favorites: Spring Shoes

TGIF! Gals, the time has come to get your piggies polished up b/c sandal season is upon us!

Not So Fun Fact: Ryan & my sisters know & my gal pals are slowly but surely coming to know, that I have the world's worst feet! Ok maybe not the world's worst, but they're bad. No lie! I have calluses, cracked heels, bunions on both feet, tiny nails and arthritis that makes me cry from time to time.  But I keep on truckin!

I refuse to let my feet take me out of cute shoes, but I am more practical than I was in my younger years. If they aren't comfortable I don't buy/wear them. I also primarily wear nude shoes because along with bad feet I have big ole ankles (Ryan calls them sturdy - he's lucky we're married because durn that's harsh ... but true). Nude shoes elongate the leg and are a soft neutral to pair with my outfits. They go with absolutely everything making them a smart investment.

I also like to move around with easy so my shoes have to be walkable #momlife.  Along with comfort I value quality.  Well made shoes will last and last. The photo memories that pop up remind me of just how long I've had some of my shoes.  I've even resoled some.  Quality shoes aren't the cheapest but they do wear the best being made of natural materials that conform to your feet.  Italians win for making the best.
When purchasing 'trendy' shoes I don't spend as much but I do make sure they're comfortable.

Here's my Spring Shoe Line Up ... in the Nude! hehe

Friday Favorites: Comfortable Sandals

TGIF!  This has been an extremely active week.  It didn't rain at all (until today, and it's been coming down all day) and even though it's been cold all week I've been outside for hours each day.  I've had intense workouts (gotta get bikini ready haha) and I've worked in our yard every single day.  Not only did the inside of our new house need some love but so did the landscaping. So I've been cleaning it up and prepping the garden.  This house has a quaint garden framed by a brick wall off to the side.  It's in need of some TLC but I'm excited to try my thumb at growing some vegetables.  I'm also jazzed about introducing Vivian to the deliciousness of a mater sandwich!

I don't know about you but I NEVER expose my piggies without polish. I have tiny and unattractive feet so they need whatever help they can get.  But during the Winter months I take a break and let them breathe. But now I'm ready to put some color on my toes, ditch the boots and closed toe shoes for some sandals!

Gals, I have spring fever something fierce! I've purchased a few outfits and sandals that are teasing me.

Here are some sandals I'm LOVING
confession: some are already in my closet

Knot Slide (these were my valentines day present)

I purchased these!  I'm obsessed because they do not have an ankle strap (impossible to find) or a strap that goes across the base of your toes (also impossible to find) both of these design elements are not flattering nor comfortable on my feet.
They are also light weight and the wedge isn't too high. Epic Win!
Also the metallic straps make them a bit dressy :)

I tried these on today at a local boutique and WOW super comfy.  Definitely pricey but I believe they'd get tons of wear! From casual to dressy.

I love the hardware on these and I'm digging the toe band!  This grey blue is very pretty and different.  This color is exclusive to Nordstrom but the sandal itself comes in several color options.

I like these because you get the height without the uncomfortable heel. They come in 6  colors. And the deign is comfortable. I'm also intrigued about a leopard sandal.  Surprisingly I don't have a pair and this price point is perfect just in case they don't get worn as often as a solid neutral.

Friday 5: Pearl Studded Shoes

TGIF!  It's been a few weeks since I've done a Friday 5 post, sorry gals.  Today I'm talking pearls on your piggies.  I mean nothing says classy like pearls and now you can wear them from your head down to your toes.

Keep your strut classy!

Spring Shoes

While it may only be February the temps down here in the South are giving Spring vibes.  I know it's not going to last and that checking the weather every day is crucial before getting dressed or deciding whether to exercise in doors or out.

Stores are already filling their floors with sundresses, light colors and sandals!  My feet aren't quite ready (I keep my toenails bare during the Winter to let them breathe) I'm dying to ditch the socks and tights.

Here is a round up of spring shoe trends I'm loving (and have already embraced)  ...

Treat Your Feet - How to Choose Your Travel Shoe

Traveling is a luxury!  It’s an amazing opportunity to pack up and journey to somewhere new.  This earth is full of history and beautiful sights and while we can ‘google image’  or purchase a calendar with pictures of the world’s wonders there’s nothing like seeing and standing in it.

Mr and I are finally going on a trip together!  Between our MANY years long distance during his medical studies and military service it just hasn’t been an option for us.  I’m thrilled to say, our flights are booked and reservations made to see San Francisco, Napa & Sonoma!
When planning our first ‘real’ vacation Paris was at the top of my list then a long list of other European cities. Once we sat down and started to review our career responsibilities, timing and many other elements we decided that staying in the US was best.  We also wanted something relaxing because the reality is that we went a very long time without being together while he was deployed in the Middle East.
We are blessed to have several friends that have already visited wine country and they have gladly shared their recommendations.  We also have friends that live in San Fran to show us around.
Stay tuned for a recap next month!

One of the biggest components of planning any trip is packing.  No matter what your man tells you, you can NOT  just throw a bunch of clothes in a suitcase and go.  You have to be  strategic in planning your ensembles.  There are so many things to consider like weather, activities, atmosphere and of course versatility – the lighter the better!

Whether you’re pounding the pavement of a metropolitan city like NYC, grazing the hillside of CA or strolling the cobblestone streets of Europe comfortable shoes are Very Essential!
But what about looking cute?!!! Why is it so hard to have both?!  Gals, I hear ya!  I have had many requests over the past several weeks on finding cute AND comfortable shoes.  Let’s face it, wedges and heels just aren’t conducive to all day sightseeing.  And gym shoes just aren’t chic.

You want shoes that are supportive, made of leather, breathable, and have a sturdy sole to provide cushion and a solid barrier between you and the ground.
AND you want them to look as good as your outfit.

I hate to be a dream killer, trust me I do! But a compromise must be made because nothing will ruin your vacation like blisters and sore feet.

I’ve rounded up a variety of shoes and reviews for you to help you choose your next travel shoes!

1.  -  2.  -  3.  -  4.  -  5.  -  6.  -  7.  -  8.

#2:  I actually purchased these for myself.  I was in the store and saw they were on major sale and decided to try them on.  I like that they are not just made with leather straps but a leather sole too.  They have a top and back strap for a secure fit.  The sole is this rubber so I'm hoping it will provide cushion and ample barrier between my feet and the hard ground.

#5:  I own these!  Birkenstocks were the jam back in high school ... it seems like everything from my teen years is cycling back in style.  Just as my Mamma shook her head when trends of her youth resurfaced, as am I! They are way too 'crunchy', 'hippie' 'granola' whatever you want to call it for my style however their comfort trumps my lack of affection for them.  They're those shoes that are great to have for casual days full of walking. - too bad I didn't hang on to my pair from high school and had to recently repurchase.

#4 & #8:  Born shoes are hands down great on comfort! They have a ton of cushion and support and came highly recommended by a gal pal who wore Born sandals all around Europe last month!

#6:  These look like they would really  hold your feet in place and with a sole that's molded for extra support you could almost run in these.

#7:  Who knew UGG made more than just boots with the fur??!!!  I haven't tried these but the brand is better at function rather than style - at least in my opinion.

#1 & #3:  I picked these as they aren't a wedge more of a flat form so you get some height but without the pressure.  Made of cork and light weight materials they seem to be a perfect blend of both style and comfort.

1.  -  2.  -  3.  -  4.  -  5.  -  6.  -  7.

#1:  Clarks are just great for comfort and I give them major points for stepping up their design game. These ballet flats are cute and contain a very sturdy sole.  They even have a bow!

#2:  I have a pair of these on my wish list.  I say wish list because they are pricey.  However, they are very high quality therefor if taken care of will last you many years.  Shoes like these I resole every so often and keep on strutting!  They are polished enough to wear to the office and on weekends.  They would be great for days that include street strolling straight to dinner.

#3: These are perforated flats that also have perforated soles.  They are perfect for keeping your feet cool in warm conditions. Nobody wants to walk around with powder in their shoes.

#4:  I like these not only for their soft leather construction but because they have a pointer toe box.  It gives the shoe a dresser look and is elongation on the leg.

#5: Another shoe by Born, I love the knobby rubber sole and metallic finish give is a nice finish.  I'm normally not a fan of flats with elastic but these have such a slight stretch I believe they will hug just right.

#6: These flats are by Puma.  Puma is known for their athletic shoes so I imagine these will be like walking in sneakers but so much cuter.

#7:  A shoe to fit any foot style with it's array of colors.  My gal pals that are mammas swear by these cuties.  They are also on my list of possible purchases.  I've held off as they aren't quite dressy enough for the office and currently I have enough weekend shoes.  Once sandal weather is gone I may go for it and snag me a pair ... but oh what color or print will I choose?!!!

1.  -  2.  -  3.  -  4.  -  5. -  6.  -  7.

#1 & #3:  These are your classic slip ons.  Easy on and off without the bulk of a traditional sneaker.

#2 & #6:  Again these are coming back from my teen years.  Light and bright and again no bulk are casual classic sneakers.

#4:  I own these and love them!  They are a blank canvass and never go out of style.  You can even wash them in the washing machine, although I'm too afraid to do so for fear of damaging my appliance.  They are great for weekends and back yard parties with games.  They're so cute I pair them with a casual sundress.

#5 & #7: A slimmer silhouette for a sneaker but still with the cushioned sole, these are a great option for light athletic activities.

I hope that this was helpful in finding your next pair of traveling shoes.  Remember, they may not be as cute as your strappy heels but when you're wearing a happy smile no one will be looking down at your feet!

Focus on the experience, the company and the wonders that God has created!

Flat Forms

Espadrilles are an essential part of my summer shoe game, along with flip flops and wedges.  The natural twine sole takes me to a place of hot sunny days and easy breezy fun.

This season the 'flat form' has squeezed it's way between the flats and the wedges.  A platform that gives you the height without the heel.   These flat forms aren't as heavy as your typical 70's platform because they're wrapped in jute to keep you light on your feet all through Summer's heat.

I've rounded up several styles ...

White  -  Red  -  Gold  -  Black  -  Lace Up  -  Stripe  -  Snake  -  Denim  -  Brown
Note: Each pair comes in several different colors!!

Sandal Season

It's officially sandal weather.  The fabulous thing about sandals is comfort!  Sandals give a much loved break from heels without loosing style - and they allow those little piggies to breathe keeping you cool and blister free :)

Personally, I have horrendous 'ballerina' feet; boney, far from soft and micro mini (I can often wear kid shoes) making it hard to find fitted shoes that don't slip off.  I welcome the open, strappy, slip on goodness that comes with warm weather.  And I don't know about you, but I strut around much faster when I'm not flexed up high in a pump.

When selecting a sandal I like leather as it forms to your foot and is less likely to rub.  I also stick to neutrals so that I can pair them with any outfit.

Here are round up of sandals from Nordstrom sure to fit any style!
Click on the titles to shop

These are my FAVORITE sandals Ever.  I'm on my 3rd pair - in gold!
I started in college (before everyone was wearing them).  They're comfortable and go with everything - metallic color adds a touch of dressy.  They come in a Huge variety of colors!!

For those gals that love Bling!

I purchased this sandal a couple years ago in a brown/black snake and Love them!  The print hides inevitable scuff marks and who doesn't love animal texture?!!

This ladylike girlie girl may just have to have these!
A bow is the perfect finishing touch to any look

Jelly sandals take me back to my childhood - When Mamma let me have glitter ones :)

This flip flop is more sophisticated and durable than a foam/plastic pair.

These are on sale and in multiple colors!

I dare say the sandals have a 'professional' vibe
