Friday Favorites: Spring Shoes

TGIF! Gals, the time has come to get your piggies polished up b/c sandal season is upon us!

Not So Fun Fact: Ryan & my sisters know & my gal pals are slowly but surely coming to know, that I have the world's worst feet! Ok maybe not the world's worst, but they're bad. No lie! I have calluses, cracked heels, bunions on both feet, tiny nails and arthritis that makes me cry from time to time.  But I keep on truckin!

I refuse to let my feet take me out of cute shoes, but I am more practical than I was in my younger years. If they aren't comfortable I don't buy/wear them. I also primarily wear nude shoes because along with bad feet I have big ole ankles (Ryan calls them sturdy - he's lucky we're married because durn that's harsh ... but true). Nude shoes elongate the leg and are a soft neutral to pair with my outfits. They go with absolutely everything making them a smart investment.

I also like to move around with easy so my shoes have to be walkable #momlife.  Along with comfort I value quality.  Well made shoes will last and last. The photo memories that pop up remind me of just how long I've had some of my shoes.  I've even resoled some.  Quality shoes aren't the cheapest but they do wear the best being made of natural materials that conform to your feet.  Italians win for making the best.
When purchasing 'trendy' shoes I don't spend as much but I do make sure they're comfortable.

Here's my Spring Shoe Line Up ... in the Nude! hehe

Friday Favorites: Christmas Red

TGIF! Christmas Red is the color of the season. Red ribbons, red Santas, red noosed reindeer and a fresh red striped candy cane. The crimson color is bold and bright and seeing it everywhere truly makes spirits bright.

Red isn't a color I typically wear in my garments, probably because I'm wearing red on my head everyday with my hair.  But I absolutely love to accessorize with red! It's a primary color and a classic to compliment with all year long.

Here are some beautiful Christmas Red pieces ...

I'm wearing this one in the pic above

Friday Favorites: Cinched

TGIF! (a day late - see my previous post as to why) We rounded the corner on week 2 of staying in our sweet homes and I'm must say (don't hate me) that it's actually been fun! I've realized how much time is spent running around and just how much I can accomplish by staying put. Our home is spic and span, our yard and garden is manicured and the laugher our walls have heard is higher than ever.
A lot of it's coming from the FaceTime & Zoom meetings we are having!
Even Vivian is using it for story time with other kiddos.

Ever popular 'GG' belt

While many things about this are far from easy, it's a cinch to elevate your outfits! Belts, gals, belts.  They're my favorite accessory!
Bonus:  If your waistline has suffered (which I hope it hasn't) a belt can be the best disguise creating an emphasized hourglass silhouette.

Belts add shape, detail, texture, shine and can add a breaking point to in your outfit creating flattering proportions on your body.
Example:  A belt high on your natural waist will make your lower body/legs appear longer.

Tip RULE: If your dress, skirt, pant or even peplum top comes with a self fabric tie/sash REPLACE it with a belt!  I always do this and it enhances the garment and overall outfit 10 fold!

Belts are also a good accessory to invest in due to their ability to be worn over and over again with so many pieces.  Just like a classic pair of shoes.

This dress is straight so I needed to add shape while these pants came with a self fabric belt and needed more contrast (and shine!).
I've had these belts for a long time.
I good portion of mine are vintage!

Friday Favorites: Splurge vs Steal

TGIF! Gracious gals this week has been a doozy! A vicious germ has me down ... well as down as a Mamma can be (we don't get sick days).  For the past several nights I've had a violent cough keeping me up and on the couch so that Ryan can sleep. At some point in the middle of the night last night I was coughing so hard I was crying and wishing someone would just take me out back and put me out of my misery. #truth
Oh and due to my sore throat I have no voice at all which has Vivian very very confused.
Bless her heart she's been so sweet and thank goodness hasn't been attacked by this horrific monster germ.

Highlight of the week, our darling gal in pig tails for school!

I've found myself admiring some really pretty designer pieces lately but NOT their price tags. With a little online (and Instagram) searching I've been able to find items that are just as pretty.

Note: I honestly had intentions of sharing a lot more but #germ.
Here are some fun retailers I've been loving lately that carry great designer inspired pieces:
Willow Park Boutique - River Island - Mulberry & King - H&M - ASOS

I've talk to you gals before on this post about the difference between 'replica' and 'resemble' pieces.  Replicas are what you would call 'fakes' while designs that are inspired by and simple resemble are a better option in my opinion.  They're not a copy cat but of similar style elements.

So here are some designer pieces I admire and pieces that resemble them at a lower price point:

Mamma Monday: Chic Sneaks

Happy Monday Mammas! I hope you're week is off to a joyful start.

Gracious ours is, especially coming from such a fun weekend! The only thing missing was Ryan, sadly he's working every weekend except for 2 through the end of the year. (I just realized that was a 'woe is me' complaint sigh must keep practicing having a grateful heart SL!) anyways ....
It was our church's annual Fall Festival on Saturday (I realized the first one we ever attended was 10 years ago as an engaged couple #timeflies) and I was extra jazzed this year because Vivian can run and play! There were bouncy houses, pony rides, hay rides (she insisted on riding over and over and over again!), and a tractor that she absolutely LOVED playing on!

Then on Sunday it was the dedication of Vivian's tiniest cousin.  Like going to a wedding, these ceremonies remind me of the vows we took to raise Vivian Louise in God's image and the family and friends that vowed to do so alongside us. It was a special time together with my family.

And we couldn't visit Grandma without playing with the chicks and ducks!

This is a 'fashion' blog so I do want to keep that the main focus.
So for today's post I want to talk about sneakers.  Apparel and footwear have taken a very big casual turn over the past few years and while I'm not super laid back with my style I have to admit since becoming a Mamma I've relaxed a bit. In fact I didn't own a pair outside of my running and gym shoes until last year.
Chasing a toddler will force you into comfort!

Sneakers are being styled not only with athleisure wear but with dresses, skirts and your typical jeans.
They're not just for function but for very chic form!

I think of them as the new ballet flat. You can basically style them with everything and look very modern and feel very comfortable.

Tip: Think twice before wearing them shopping b/c when you go to try on clothes it's such a pain taking them on and off (last week's situation)

Here are some very chic sneaks to add to your outfits ...

Converse are such a Classic

So Sweet - I totally wore them as a little girl

The IT sneaker - they're a spurge but I bit the bullet and got them last year.  Totally worth it!  I only wanted one good pair and these are quality & made of leather.  They're not as polished as I typically wear but they balance my outfits. They fit my rule of buy quality over quantity and I truly wear them several times week.

Love this sneaker for it's many color options
 My sister loves these

I'll leave you with this sweet sweet smile who turns 22 months old today!
