Cool Mom

Whether you're a Mama or not, there are so many social occasions approaching with the start of Fall (bible study, game nights, non-profit meetings, parent gatherings etc ...).

also in 3 solid colors & a red print

I find that a dress is easy for many reasons. It's one piece, forgiving in fit, feminine and versatile with layering and accessories.

Style Tip: Prints are flattering (camouflaging of curves), interesting and allow for opportunities to showcase your personality and other color pairings.

Here are some pretty printed dress at nice prices ....

this one is in my cart

this one is a classic!
Cinched waist creates shape, great for layering with colored sweaters/vests,
belts and blazers/jackets. Sandals now - boots later

Friday Favorites: Classic Midi

TGIF! It's been a packed week with fun, work and lots of organizing! We've had some rainy days and I've been tackling all the closets, cabinets and drawers so that when school starts we and our home are ready.

With the start of school comes all kinds of social occasions: meet the teacher, PTA, bible study and gathering with friends that I know I've missed all Summer.

A neutral midi dress is a versatile piece that is flattering and easy to layer and style.

Causal - sandals or sneakers with denim jacket or cardigan
Dressy - heels, bold jewelry with a small handbag
Fall - booties, sweater or leather jacket

Here are some pretty neutral midi dresses ...

also in brown & red - great price!

Fancy What I Like

It's almost Fall and while everyone is going cuckoo for pumpkin this and cozy neutral that, I continue to fancy what I like, pink! Lots of bright cheerful pink .. and other colors too. Just because the season change doesn't mean you throw out your favorites or suddenly acclimate to the trends. Sure I'll start wearing sweaters, booties, browns and make soup but that won't be all I wear and do... it's still hot for crying out loud.

The way I incorporate my love for light bright colors is to deepen the hue, incorporate in warm textures and pair with seasonal layers.

Just because the days are shorter doesn't mean you short change your style.  When I wear this dress in the cooler months, I will pair it with booties and layer with either a jacket or sweater.

This designer, Ulla Johnson, has been one of my favorites for several years now. She uses crisp cotton poplin fabric, interesting worldly prints and very unique detailing. There's nothing basic about her pieces.

Fresh as a Daisy

It's a weird Wednesday, isn't it?? Whenever Monday is a holiday it makes the whole week seem off. And it looks like we are facing a second week with day after day of rain. BLAH

So I picked this fresh as a daisy dress to share today to lift our dreary spirits.  Y'all know I love a statement detail and these exaggerated flutters sleeves are amazing!

While puff sleeves are such a chic trend, I prefer sleeveless for movement and to stay cool ... if you're southern living you know! These flutter sleeves draw attention up towards your smile making you appear taller and your waist/lower body slimmer! (playing with volume emphasizes shape).

This blue color is so bright and the cheerful daisies make it such a fun piece for summer.

Friday Favorites: Long Dresses

TGIF! I don't know about you but I feel like this week went by much faster that the first two weeks of quarantine.  I'll take it as a sign that we are finally in a groove and place of acceptance.  Although I'm heartbroken every day that I can't see my Mamma, sister, nephew & niece and gracious my sweet gal pals.  Well, technically I have 'seen' them through video.  Funny, how this technology has become such a prized possession!

It may be hard to think about dressing up or it could be something that keeps you hopeful.
I'm keeping the faith that we will be able to step out soon and when we do, gracious I'm going to be dressed and ready for it!

Long dresses have gained more footage in my closet over the past several years. I was hesitant for a long time to invest because they were not office appropriate, I'm petite and didn't want to be overwhelmed and I wasn't sure how to make them work outside of being on vacation.
Well, they're still not a fit for the work place but they most certainly are pretty no matter your stature and shouldn't be limited to the beach.

Wear them to church, luncheons, showers, date nights or even better gals night out (missing my friends something fierce!!) Shoot, wear them lounging in your back yard with your family and neighbors. Just swap the wedges/heels for a pair of sandals or sneakers.

Here are some favorite long dresses ....

Bonus:  With a long dress you can skip shaving and self tanner! #winnerwinner
