Friday Favorites: Fun Pants

TGIF! Let's first give praise for AC! It's been scorching hot outside and I can't even imagine putting on a pair of jeans. But fall styles are hitting the racks and it will be here before we know it.

CAMO PANTS

Jeans are a foundation piece for my wardrobe. I wear them the most outside of summer. But I do like to change it up from the traditional blue with colors and prints.

Note: printed & colored pants tend to be a bit lighter in fabric than traditional blue jeans - they're also flattering on the leg!

Here are some fun pants ...

Friday Favorites: Printed Pants

TGIF! Gals, I love a printed pant, especially in light weight fabrics and fun colors for Summer.
They're so easy to style with a simple solid top whether it's a tee, tank, blouse or one with a little sass such as ruffles or spaghetti straps.

Found these on super sale at anthropologie this week (sold out online). There's a lot of promotions this weekend so if it's a fit for you take advantage! My Top & Sandals

Here are some pretty pants I love ...

May Flowers

April Showers Bring May Flowers!

It was a rainy weekend and rather than being inconvenienced by the mess I find myself very happy when the clouds water my plants.  I’ve been working so hard on our yard for 7 months, which is a big deal because I have black thumbs but our landscaping was just dated, overgrown and needed an overhaul.  Taking out bushes, trees and what felt like miles of ivy was an amazing and very rewarding stress reliever while Mr was deployed.  And as a bonus, it was a killer workout and improved my upper body strength.  You’d think after several months of labor it’d be ‘Southern Living Magazine’ ready but sadly it’s still a long work in progress.

With the help of my Mamma – a certified botanist in my book, I planted all new bushes and flowers in our beds and on corners last month.   It’s funny, I never really cared or appreciated plants like I do now.  I’ve worked so hard to keep them alive that I am now invested and want them to flourish.  I’ve even filled my sunroom and just about every other room in our house with plants.  Watching them grow seriously brings me joy! #winning

I’ve never been one to have fresh bouquets of flowers in our home and Mr knows I prefer hand written notes over chocolate and blooms.  I mean fresh flowers die & chocolate isn’t good for my figure.
Note: I often give potted plants when meeting a new neighbor or for a hostess.  They’re a gift that you can foster and enjoy for extended time.

What I do love, is floral prints.  I prefer my fabrics and my prints to be natural because there is nothing more beautiful than God’s own creations.  So bring on the animal spots & stripes and all the pretty plants.

Wearing floral prints brings life to your look.  The colors just make you smile and think of warm sunny days.

Printed pants aren’t a staple or foundation piece but you can’t be boring and strut solely in solids.
Now, I’m not one to draw attention to my lower body/legs but prints are very camouflaging while making a statement.
These irises are just beautiful! Of all the pretty petals out there magnolias and irises are my favs! I even found a single iris plant growing beside our house last week.  Talk about finding treasure!
I scored these pants at Nordstrom rack but I’ve linked lots of pretty options for you below.
I paired them with a navy racer back top and cognac leather belt for a bit of casual and a pump to add polish.  Mix it up gals!
And as for pairing options, the sky’s the limit.  You have lots of colors to choose from and if you’re extra adventures double up with another print like stripes or polka dots J

Sprinkle some statement pieces into your wardrobe and start with a pair of floral pants!

Gingham

I love a nice printed pant. For some that's just plain scary.  I get it.  I carry my wight in my lower body/legs and the last thing I want to do is draw attention.

Prints don't have to be big and loud.  In fact, subtle small prints are treated like solids when it comes to styling - because from far away that's exactly what they look like.

Now, gingham is a classic print and one of my favorites!  It's like plaid but with less colors and uniformed square checks.  Think red and white picnic pattern. Gingham has been a hugely popular print over the past several years and it's still going!  Don't limit the print to your button down shirts - branch out to pants and dresses.

These pants are awesome for their sliming stretchiness and in neutral black & white you can pair with any color.  I choose pink and white just about anytime I can :)

Graphic & Metallic

Mix Your Metallics with a Graphic Print and You've Got a Look of Interest.
Typically You'll Find Your Prints in Tops and Dresses, but Printed Pants are Totally In.
They are a Pop of Cool so You Only want a Pair or Two and May Not Want to Invest Major Dollars for the Amount of Wear.
I scored these on super sale from an in-store online return - Lucky Me!

I Tend to Keep My Focus on my Upper Body -It's my Better Half - but if Kept in a Dark Color Palette and Classic Print I'll Venture to Shift.

These Pants aren't a Pair You'll See Everyday ... Which is Why I Couldn't Resist.  The Navy & Radiant Orchid Pattern were Softer in Contrast while still Bold Enough to Command Attention.
I Think that's the Key to Printed Pants.  Look for a Color Palette that's Pretty and Complimentary to Your Style and a Print that's Traditional (Florals, Checks, Plaids, and Small Stripes)
Fabulous is a Much Better Look than Funky!

Metallic  Anything is Just Simply Marvelous!
It Adds Shine and a Sense of Fancy.  And it's a Neutral!!
So Why Not in a Shoe?! Goes with Anything :)

These Penny Loafers take the Menswear Classic to Fancy Feminine.

Confession: I've Even Taken My Love of Gold & Silver Beyond my Wardrobe and into my Home Design with Mirrored Furniture, Lamps and Decor.

I Toned Down this Look with a Denim Shirt and Kept my Jewelry to a Minimum Since I had Enough Shine in my Shoes.

For a More Sophisticated Styling Opt for a Silk Blouse, Blazer and Pumps.

Branch Outside the Box with a Pair of Printed Pants!
