Friday Favorites: Bump Up The Basics

TGIF! It still hasn't sunk in yet that it's 2020 (and that my baby is 2!).  But gals, the world keeps on turning and here we are in a brand new year and decade.

My favorite ways to make my typical outfits, which are white or solid colored tops and jeans look interesting and new is to add color and print with my shoes and handbag.

Note: I am VERY proud of myself for adding a whole lot more print in my wardrobe last year ... but still NO black and heavens no grey.

One concept that I really want to emphasize to you is that it's far more fun to add color to color than color to neutrals.  What I mean is, your ensemble doesn't have to be white, black or blue jeans to add a bright color or print.

Here are some ways I add color and print to a solid outfit .....

Snakin Day to Night

I'm bringing a lot of snake print into my closet this season.  I love animal prints, and snake is sophisticated and edgy.

I've shared my love of local boutiques before but may I remind you that shopping local businesses supports your community and also makes for interesting 'one of a kind' finds!

One of my favorite boutiques is Sovella's.  The owner Mallory is a gem with her sweet personality and eye for all things pretty.  I saw this tank in her store and instantly knew I had to have it and mentally was going through all the way's I'd style it. The soft colors: green, grey, ivory, and taupe go with everything!  You could pair it with any neutral.

Follow on Instagram for first looks @sovellasboutique ... She Ships!

I'm showing you two looks, one for day/work and another for evening/weekend.  It's as simple as ditching the jacket and opting for jeans.
I kept both these palettes dark but make no mistake this tank is going right on a pair of white skinny jeans after Easter!

Green Glam

I Speak for All Red Heads when I say that Our Color is Emerald Green!  It Compliments our Fiery Locks like Pearls on a Little Black Dress.

The Coolness of Green Next to the Warm Orange Tint is Utterly Striking.

Naturally I Gravitate to Green and Add it to my Wardrobe as Often as I can.

There are Many Shades of Green - Lime, Kelly, Hunter, Mint, Pine, Olive ....
But my Favorite is Emerald. Rich like the Gemstone.  When I think of Emeralds, I see Elizabeth Taylor Showered in Diamonds and Jewels.  No One was More Glamorous!

Especially, now that the Holidays are Quickly Approaching (35 Days til Christmas Ekkk), Looking Glamorous for Parties is One of my Favorite Parts!

I Found this Green Topper a Few Years Ago and Feel Glamorous Each Time I wear it.  I Pair it Often with Work Wear as well as with Jeans and Blouses on the Weekends.  For Special Occasions it Finishes a Dark Cocktail Dress with Vibrant Color.

For This Look I Mixed my Dressy & Casual: Black Jeans, Silk Ruffled Snake Blouse and Heeled Mules; Making it a 'Wear Anywhere' Ensemble.

White Snake

White & Animal Print

You Rarely will See the Two Combined - most Animal Prints are Based on Dark Tones

Snakes are the Scariest Creatures on Earth, but they Make for Spectacular Garments

I Feel that with Snake Prints you can Almost Feel the Scaly Texture
And it's the One Animal Print that Can be Done in Lots of Colors and Medias
Skinned Bags & Shoes Be Still My Heart!

My Affinity for White Overtakes Most of my Looks, so When I saw this Light Gray/White Pencil Skirt it was a Must Have!

Yes, Pairing with Color will Look Amazing, I'm thinking Peach or Navy

For this Outfit I Stayed True to me and Paired this Snake Skirt with White Creating a more Monochromatic Look but with Pops of Texture and Shine with Print and Metallic Silver Pumps
