Marigold Part II

Monday I shared with you gals this marigold lace top and I also shared that I'd be styling the matching skirt on Wednesday/today.  So here it is, this matching marigold lace skirt and all it's sunny glory paired with a classic chambray shirt.

Yes, these coordinating matchy-matchy pieces are bold, bright and beautiful but I do believe they need to be styled separately.  The color is so saturated along with the straight cut of the lace top making it difficult to tuck in, I feel that you maybe overwhelmed.  If I were to wear them together I'd most definitely add a printed scarf and/or jacket to add contrast.

Instinctually I went to pair this skirt with a classic blue dress shirt (because y'all know I'm all about work wear) but I decided to opt for a bit more of a casual vibe and go with something equally as classic, the chambray shirt.  It easily pairs with everything! And it's a little more laid back.
I did however stick with pumps but for the weekend a sandal/flat/wedges would do.

This skirt has the same feminine cutout lace detail as the top and with a grosgrain, slightly stretchy waist band and aline design, a super flattering fit.

More pairing Options:
Basic white tee (tucked in or knotted)
Burgundy or Olive (think Fall)
Crisp white shirt
Pastel Pink
Blue & White stripes

This marigold lace skirt truly adds a ray of sunshine to your step!

Marigold Part I

Gals, it was 75 and sunny yesterday! When I saw this marigold color on the racks all I could think was yes, a yellow I can wear and I now have spring fever.  Yellow can ben a tricky color, but I've found that the rich gold jewel tone yellow (think mustard) is fabulous for all skin tones and hair color.  Pastel yellow is also a shade that fits all.

Note:  There's a matching skirt - stay tuned for Wednesday's post :)

I knew just how I was going to style this top.  I had recently purchased these blush pants at BR's spring collection launch party I attended last Thursday night and the new pink shoes I shared with you last week on my spring shoe favorites were the perfect pairings.  I love contrast but it doesn't always have to be with neutrals.  Pastels and jewel tones are unexpected and a more colorfully and feminine combination.
I find it refreshing to ditch the dark winter hues for the bright happy hues.

Navy being my favorite neutral was the right choice for my handbag.  It grounded the colorful look.  It was my grandma's so I feel special when I wear it.

Try mixing a rich, bold jewel tone with a favorite pastel.

Examples:
emerald green + powder blue
bright orange + lavender
Red + mint green
royal purple + carnation pink

Marigold

Marigolds are small scented flowers that bloom annually in a golden orange yellow color.  Their bright saturated color is so unique that it’s responsible for the color’s name.  It truly is golden orange yellow because it’s equal parts all 3.  It’s rich which is why I love it so!  And because I love things that can’t quite fit into the ‘box’.

I find that gals are weary of wearing orange and yellow, hence Marigold is just right.

My favorite pairings are navy, plum, burgundy and forest green for darker looks, and Carolina blue, lavender and pink for lighter looks.

Like I’ve shared with you here & here, Gingham is the print of the season.  So this top with its sash tied in a sweet bow is perfection!

I went with a lighter neutral palette and styled this top with ivory trousers, perfect for the office.  But how cute would it be with white jeans or shorts?!!  Think about going outside the neutral box and choose a complimentary color from my list above, I’m thinking baby pink shorts will be my pick for this weekend.
