Friday Favorites: Pastel Pants

TGIF! Wow, this week was so warm and sunny it tempted me to pull out my bins of summer clothes but I know we're not quite there yet. It did motivate me to paint my toe nails!

Light clothing is a matter of style and survival in the South. Our Summers can be brutal.
Personally I find light colors refreshing and pretty! Pastels have a sweet aesthetic to them that can give a cheerful look to your outfit.

Note: I cut the hem for a cropped length

I wore these pale pink jeans to bible study this week and not only felt pretty in them but enjoyed the break from my traditional blue jeans.

Here are some pretty pastel pants for the Spring & Summer season ...

Friday Favorites: All Yellow

Good Friday! What a significant day it is, the day we remember Jesus dying on a cross four our sins. A punishment we deserve and he paid so that we can be washed clean and have eternal life.
At times that is so overwhelming for me to comprehend as I am drowning in unworthiness.

Gals, today I encourage you to go to Him in prayer thanking Him, loving Him and seeking how you can glorify Him!

Yellow is a color that's capable of charming, cheering and warming us with happiness just like the sun.

I must say, I've never given yellow any attention when it comes to my wardrobe or my home design. I disregarded it as uncomplimentary to my hair and skin tone. I know that's silly, at least that's what I'd tell you if you said it to me. Don't create limits when it comes to colors, you'll miss out on some really pretty style. Now, I will say pastel, light and bright shades of yellow are the ones that light me up the most.

Here are some yellow pieces that will have you looking golden ...

I own this basic in several colors

Friday Favorites: Peplum Tops

TGIF! Gals it's been a fun week for me. Lots of exercising & playing outside (lots of Easter egg hunts in our yard). I had my teeth cleaned (I absolutely LOVE going to the dentist so it's a noteworthy) AND I cleaned out my closet putting away my Winter pieces and bringing out my Summer ones. On Monday I'll share a post on my process.

My very first blog post in a dramatic peplum top circa 2014

Today I want to share all about peplum tops. Several years ago they were the "IT' design and for reasons I can't understand they vanished from the racks. The good news is someone in the higher ups of the fashion world discovered this mistake and is making efforts to return these beauties to our closets.

Archives May 2019

What makes a peplum top so pretty?

1. The seam whittles the waist ... do I really even need to give more?

2. The design creates curves and simultaneously camouflages the lower abdomen (if you've had a kid you know)

3. The ruffle hem is feminine.

4. Plays well with pants, skirts and shorts of all designs!

5. Flatters all body shapes and sizes.

in 2 additional colors

Mamma Monday: Practical Wardrobe

Happy Monday Mammas! I hope you had a fun weekend.  Our was simple and sweet.  We enjoyed our Halloween take 2 Friday night with a neighborhood party and I had a dinner with some gal pals. On Saturday we went to story time, shopped, had a delicious sushi (my favorite) lunch with a previous work colleague and a fun trip to the park.  I decided to keep Vivian up an hour later that night to adjust her to the time change ... it failed! She was up an hour early, but we had a ball dancing to Moana.  Sunday we worshiped together and her Daddy was able to make it before his next shift.

Confession: Gracious Ryan is so handsome on Sunday mornings! I always see him in his workout clothes running to the gym or scrubs.  But he goes ALL out for church, nice dress shirts, tie, silk pocket square, sport coat, fun socks and always shined shoes. #bestillmyheart

Now that I'm a Mamma I've dialed down my dressing just a bit. I'm still very polished but with a touch of comfy.
I want to share with you some pieces that are utilitarian and functional for Mamma Life.
NO, that does NOT mean leggings!

Sidenote:  This was a huge discussion/lots of laughs at a recent dinner with some gals from MOPS. I strongly believe that leggings are NOT pants and that the only way to wear them is with your derriere covered! It created a lot of curiosity and giggles when they realized I literally chill in my home wearing jeans. Gym clothes are ONLY for sweating!
They've all decided they're wearing leggings to our gathering this Friday LOL

Here are some pieces that are casual and comfortable but can hold up to the often messy and high speed activities that go along with chasing littles.

They're light, easy to layer and prints hide stains!

Sherpa Cowl Neck

Heart Sweatshirt

Light and Comfortable but are a pant.
I love these and pair with sneakers or sandals

Easy to move in and any destruction blends in.

I love these because I can move my arms easily and don't get too hot chasing her around.
I also run in the cold in this.
You can top off a sweater and jeans too.

Cozy for staying warm, easy to wash and soft for snuggling

I love these for holding my mane back without messing up my curls or style with a big crease. And if Vivian decided she wants to pull it out there's no harm.
