All Stylish on the Western Front

Gals, in just a week and a half Yellowstone returns for season 5. I. can. not. wait! It's such a suspenseful show. One of my favorite parts is that it takes place on a ranch in beautiful Montana. I love the landscape and wildlife so much, I have it on my list to see in real life soon.

When the wind blows just right

I'm a girlie girl through and through but my affinity for Western style is as big as a horse.

Fun Fact: The only other place I'd ever consider living, is Texas. I'd have even bigger hair and wear ALL the rhinestones, big belts, boots and hats!

Adding a hat, leather, denim, artisan jewelry and of course boots to any outfit instantly gives a cowgirl look. BUT Halloween is over and chances are you don't actually work on a ranch so it's important to style in a way that doesn't look like you're wearing a costume.

First, choose ONLY a couple western accoutrements and pair with modern pieces.
For example, a feminine skirt or dress will add contrast. Adding prints and colors softens the look too.

And if you really do want to go all out and wear head to toe Western - do it with a smile!
If you love it, wear it!

A motor leather jacket adds warmth, texture and a little edge!

Statement artisan jewelry really speaks to the western style. Silver and turquoise are so beautiful!
This cuff is labradorite.

Friday Favorites: Booties

Booties are the shoe of the season for so many good reasons.

Because of their leather composition, closed toe and above ankle height they not only keep you warm, protect from elements but they pair beautifully with all outfits.

also in black

With dresses or skirts or jeans and even suits, booties can really contribute a lot of style. Personally I'm a pointed toe, box heel gal when it comes to booties OR a western style! I've got some cowgirl in me.

Here are some beautiful booties ...

I got these last year and love!

Early Fall

You know what I think? I think that a maxi skirt with booties & a blouse is a very pretty way to dress for when it's almost Fall.

It's still so warm outside so a light weight blouse is comfortable and fits nicely with a layered jacket for cooler times. Booties are the shoe of the season! They pair with everything, they're comfortable and in a pointed toe very elongating on the leg.

I believe maxi skirts with a print in a rich color palette are so stylish as they allow for lots of pairing options. Denim tops for now and sweaters for later are great options.

Tip: Neutral tops are great to soften a skirt with lots of color but don't be afraid to choose a top with a complimentary color found in the print.

Friday Favorites: Lug Sole Boots

TGI -Fall! Although this week it surely hasn't felt like it. The afternoon temps have been in the 80's and Vivian & I both have been in dresses and shorts. To be honest I'm not mad about it.  I've enjoyed feeling the sunshine and the extra weeks of playing outside.

But when the cooler weather does show up, I'll be ready!

I remember, back in high school, just how cool lug sole boots were. Gals, they're back! I had to giggle when one of my 15 year old Sunday school students told me she was asking for a pair of Doc Martens for her birthday.  I remember my friends asking for the same at her age.  Those boots never really suited my girlie style but I won't argue they're a classic. I've recently been drawn to these comfy booties to add a little edge to my looks.

Friday Favorites: Fall Everything

This picture was from the archives circa 2015

TGIF & Fall! According to the calendar we are in a new season, although the South holds on to Summer temps for quite a lot longer. I feel like Fall's the most popular season. Gals just love their spiced lattes, pumpkin flavored everything from Trader Joes, cozy camel sweaters, boots and felt hats. Sigh I'm not on the train.  I'm a Spring gal through and through! This gal just loves new flower blooms, outdoor tea parties, egg shaped candy, pastels, frilly dress and sandals.

I do however embrace the new found morning & evening chill, cozy layers and richer colors. I can't wait to be in the mountains in 2 weeks to see the leaves changing their colors and hike in the crisp fresh air.

Here are some pretty pieces that feature Fall beautifully ....

Pink Jungle

A soft sweater and jeans a long skirt is my new go-to this season.  Don't get me wrong I love a good pair of jeans and I've got a couple good posts coming at you with this season's denim trends, but I'm loving the femininely that a skirt has along with the same coverage and ease of movement.

Places to go and occasions outside our homes are far and few between, I know that, but when I do leave I want to feel put together and like myself.  A long skirt doesn't require any extra work.  In fact you can still skip shaving your legs and they're actually more forgiving than a pair of jeans. Bonus, sneakers are all the rage with skirts and dresses so embrace the chic comfort!

A printed skirt can be a little more fun and it allows for more interesting paring options.  Of course you can always opt for neutrals, ivory, black, navy, brown ... but pulling from a color inside the print is a little more lively in my opinion.
I chose the soft pink in this skirt but plan on styling with a green too.

And let me remind you that a crisp white shirt is ALWAYS a fabulous idea!
