You gals know I'm into Navy when it comes to neutrals - well today I'm into a new trimester at 28 weeks, 3rd and final!!! I can see the end! Don't get me wrong I want her to be healthy and grow but being pregnant has been far from fun for me.  I'm ready to not be sick and to enjoy snuggling her sweet little self!

AND I passed my glucose test! I literally said 'Amen' out loud when I heard the results. I could not take another defeat.  I woke up throwing up yesterday morning so getting that nasty drink down was torture at 8am.  But with a lot of prayer, determination and Mr cheering me on holding the barf bag nearby I pushed through.

We heard her strong heart beat at 155/min - music to our ears! We will also get to see her in 3 weeks on ultrasound. I look at all these extra monitoring tests as just another opportunity to see her rather than being stressed. It's all in God's hands anyways.

So, to the topic of interest, this outfit.  I 100% prefer navy over black when it comes to dark neutrals.  I find that a lot of gals struggle with navy outside of summer because they don't want to pair it on top of jeans for fear of being monochromatic with no contrast.  The key is to opt for a lighter wash denim because those white jeans are tucked away for days between Easter and Labor Day - unless you're a rule breaker.

When it comes to maternity dressing I wanted to stay as true to my style as possible but that can be challenging because the options are so limited.  This top spoke my language in a windowpane print.  And it had a unique neckline with more of a peplum design which is very close to what I would like without the bump. It's perfect for the office with trousers but also super cute for weekends with distressed jeans and booties, as you can see.

I topped it off with an ivory jacket I already had to add a dressy element, balancing the jeans.

Prego Pals - we must use as much of our wardrobe as we can, just ignore the inability to button those blazers.

Fancy Transition

With the holidays comes holiday outfits. I'm talking sparkles, metallics, beading, sheer inlays, and lace.  Personally I find it hard to resist those fancy garments in the store. They just draw you in.  However, they also tend to be expensive and how often are you really going to wear it?

The trick to embracing those cocktail pieces is to go moderate.  Avoid the extreme gaudy embellishment and go for something that's equally as shiny and interesting but in a subdued way.
Try and purchase these 'holiday' pieces on sale before and after Christmas.  Because we all know once you've taken lots of pictures in it, it's going back in the closet to collect dust.

Another way to to maximize the investment and avoid the one time wear is to style those fancy garments in a casual way.  Like this lace top (my favorite purchase this season!), pair it with distressed denim and heels and you have a very chic look. And it's comfortable!

For those metallic or lace dresses, pair with boots and/or a denim jacket.

One of the most dreadful crimes gals make is spending too much on a piece that's a 'one-hit-wear'.  Embrace those fancy holiday pieces but bring it down a notch with moderate details and don't limit yourself to cocktail styling.  Trade those fancy accessories in for casual accouterments.

My 2 New Favorites for Weekend Wear - Distressed Boyfriends & Fedoras!

Boyfriend Jeans are soooo Comfortable.  Their Loose Cut and Holes make them Roomy and Light. 

Distressed Jeans are the Hot Trend for Denim.  My Parents are Still in Awe that One Would Pay Money for Torn Up Jeans.

To Me Hats are a Finishing Accessory.  With That Keep your Jewelry & Handbag Simply to Avoid Over Doing It.

As Much as I Love my Red Locks, There are Times Where it's Just Been Way too Long Since I've washed my Mane making a Scarf or Hat my Saving Grace.

Fedoras are Fabulous.  They're Made of Light Weight Straw and the Brim is Shorter and Straight Allowing you to Maintain your Visual (Large Brim Hats Often come to Far Down and I can't see in what's in front of me)

Truths:  They Don't Fit Tight like a Baseball Hat, and They Sit just on top, not Low on Your Forehead.  It takes some Getting Used to.  Just Don't Wear One on a Windy Day.
