Polynesian

There are days I imagine myself sitting on an island underneath the shade of palm leaves.

I may not be on an island, but I am enjoying coastal living this summer.  Something about the bright sunshine and breeze off the water, it fills you with happy.  It's essential to keep cool in the heat of summer - I believe it's equally essential to be stylish.  This dress does both.

I may not be an islander but this palm printed dress makes me feel like one.  In neutrals, beige and black, this print is a bit more sophisticated than your typical bold multi-colored palm print.  In light weight cotton and shift design it's easy breezy.

I kept this look neutral but feel free to add color in a long necklace, sandal or clutch.

Don't worry and be happy in a polynesian print

Easy Breezy

Linen is one of my most favorite fabrics.  For summer in the South it's essential for staying cool in the humid hot temps.  These cotton linen pants are easy breezy!

In a wide leg cut and drawstring waist they're an easy fit.  The trick with white linen is to ensure the weave of the fabric is thick enough so that it isn't transparent - your undergarments are not to be a visible aspect of your outfit!

I styled these linen pants for a weekend/resort look with a simple tank, fedora and wedges.
Tip:  If your pant or skirt is voluminous keep your top fitted - it's the same for the reverse, if your top is voluminous keep your bottom fitted.  It's all about balance.

These pants are too long for me, hence the wedges.  They're going in for a hem so that I can pair with simple flat sandals for ease and comfort.

Tres Tropical

We're in the Midst of Summer aka Vaca Season!

The Weekdays are Simply Obstacles til We Reach the Promised Sand!

Beachin is the Best Part of Summer; This Summer I've been Singing along to Jake Owen's Song 'Beachin'

And it's sunshine, blue eyes, tan lines, slow tide rollin'
White sand, cold can, koozie in my hand, just a summertime strolling
Chillin', breezing, sippin', singin' whoa
Beachin'

Vaca also Means Trading in your Blouses, Pencil Skirts & Pumps for
Tanks, Shorts and Sandals.

I've Always been a Gussied Up Kinda Gal but I don't Hesitate Once the Work Day is Complete to Let my Hair Down and Slip into a Comfy Cotton Ensemble.

Note:  Mr Adores me Casual & Less Fussy ... Most Men do Ladies!
Opt for a Minimal Look on the Weekends with Just a Touch of Make-Up, a Relaxed Comfy Outfit and Simple Hair.

This Look Says Take me to a Tropical Island and Hand me a Fruity Drink. Yes Please!!

Buttercream Jeans

Spring has Sprung but us Southerners Can't Pull Out Our Bright Whites Just Yet.

But We Can Wear Cream.  It's a Softer White, a Warmer Hue with a Hint of Yellow.

Buttercream or 'Winter White' Allows Us to Add Light to a Look without the Harshness of White.... And You Can Avoid Violating the "No White After Labor Day" Rule.

Boyfriends & Fedoras

My 2 New Favorites for Weekend Wear - Distressed Boyfriends & Fedoras!

Boyfriend Jeans are soooo Comfortable.  Their Loose Cut and Holes make them Roomy and Light.

Distressed Jeans are the Hot Trend for Denim.  My Parents are Still in Awe that One Would Pay Money for Torn Up Jeans.

Rolling the Cuff Creates a Slimmer line on the Loose Pants.
Pairing with Pumps & a Nicer Blouse Dresses them up for a Chic Look.

I'm a Hat Gal Always Have Been.

To Me Hats are a Finishing Accessory.  With That Keep your Jewelry & Handbag Simply to Avoid Over Doing It.

As Much as I Love my Red Locks, There are Times Where it's Just Been Way too Long Since I've washed my Mane making a Scarf or Hat my Saving Grace.

Fedoras are Fabulous.  They're Made of Light Weight Straw and the Brim is Shorter and Straight Allowing you to Maintain your Visual (Large Brim Hats Often come to Far Down and I can't see in what's in front of me)

Truths:  They Don't Fit Tight like a Baseball Hat, and They Sit just on top, not Low on Your Forehead.  It takes some Getting Used to.  Just Don't Wear One on a Windy Day.

My Gal Pal Laura & I LOVE to Shop Together and Often Purchase the Same Pieces Even Apart from One Another - Now That's A Friendship Meant to Be!
When We Saw these Fedoras, We Both Just Had to Have Them!
At Least We Bought Different Shades - I the White & She the Tan :)

Warning: You'll Be Seeing A LOT of this Fedora!!
