Blue & White

Blue & white, the ultimate classic color combination. It's so beautiful you'll find the pair throughout my home decor and my wardrobe. Ryan once told me I'm not allowed to bring one more ginger jar into our house ... eyeroll. I doubt he'll have any objection to me dressing like one!

Fun fact: I meant to order this tiered maxi skirt in blue gingham but wasn't paying attention and ordered the floral print option. Such a 'Happy Accident' as my Mamma would say!

The fabric is light and airy making it a perfect piece this summer for causal or dressy occasions. I chose this eyelet flutter sleeve blouse and flat metallic sandals for a look that's just right for anywhere.

This blouse has all the designer details but at a bargain and in several color options.
Now, these sandals were another 'bargain'. They are designer so when I found them on DSW's website at a significant discount you could technically say it was a savvy spend but still an investment.

I love separates in a wardrobe for the mixing and matching possibilities.
Take the top and pair with shorts, jeans or a fun mini skirt.
Try a knotted graphic tee and sneakers with this skirt for looking chic at a backyard shindig while still being able to chase your little.

Friday Favorites: Gold Jewelry

TGIF! Gals, I love gold jewelry.  It's shiny and classic.  I wear it every day and personally prefer it to be on the smaller scale.  Don't get me wrong I find larger baubles glamorous and great statement makers but for my frame and comfort I gravitate towards daintier pieces.

Gold also compliments any look and adds class, in my opinion.  I'm headed out of town for a gals weekend and I'm bringing all the shine!

Here are some of my favorite gold jewelry pieces ...

EARRINGS

drop circle hoops - in silver & rose gold
these are so light weight I don't even know I'm wearing them
I wear them several times a week and you'll see them with most of my outfits on this blog

also in silver

Emerald Dreams

I present to you the road to emerald dressing! Emerald is such a luxurious gem for it's rich color. Bringing this gem tone into your wardrobe will have you looking just as rich.  As a gal with red hair, I've always had an eye for emerald because it's one of  the most complimentary colors (along with purple). I honestly feel that any color you love will be complimentary because you'll be happy wearing it and when you're happy your face will surely show it! So I also wear a lot of pink, blue and white.

The design of this dress is universally flattering and very feminine in a silky satin fabric. Not only does the neckline highlight your shoulders, the abstract print brings interest, the longer length elongates, the pleats give movement and the waist seam creates shape but adding a belt to me is the best style element for this dress.

Tip: When the neckline is high wear larger/longer earrings and/or wear your hair up.

It breaks up the dress at the natural waist making your lower body/legs appear super long! My favorite part is that it adds contrast.  The matte pebbled leather against the shiny smooth fabric, neutral cognac brown against the saturated green color and the masculinity against the feminine.
And do I even need to point out the obvious whittling of the waist?!
A belt also holds you in and encourages great posture.

Belts are a great investment in your accessories. Think of them as shoes in that they pair with so many outfits and enhance your style.

White Dress Refresh

Spring is coming! I can feel it or it's just that I'm just so hopeful for warm weather, for flowers to bloom and all the outside fun with Vivian. It may feel like we just celebrated the new year with bright ambitious goals and new healthy habits but I think that life is about constantly working towards being better. Today marks the start of lent - I shared about my plans for this season on Monday's post.

While life is full of fresh starts, your wardrobe can be 'refreshed' too.  A monochromatic look in all white can literally be a clean blank look to reset a style rut.  It's not void of interest, the sleek streamlined ensemble in itself is interesting because how often do you see someone so bright? Well unless you know me in real life. I wear all white outfits all the time and every time I do I receive so many compliments!

It allows your face, hair and smile to really shine.  Now, I do like adding gold jewelry and belts in a lighter shade can really add shape and make the look pop without a harsh interruption.

Since it is still Winter this dress is ivory, but come Easter all the bright whites in crisp cotton are coming out.

Friday Favorites: Beautiful Baubles

TGIF!  Gals, today couldn't have come any sooner.  Each and every day for the past few weeks has been packed to the rim meanwhile Ryan has been out of town these past two weeks and working every day but 3 this month.  And like every other gal, I break sometimes.  Honestly, I've broken a few times but I try very hard to stop, take a breath and say a prayer of gratitude and plea for patience. I lack the ability to sit still (if you watch my instagram stories you know I'm always doing something) and it can often be a detriment. If you're sharing my sentiments I encourage you to pause and look past the crazy to see the joy all around you! I'll end my pity party here and get on with the fashion portion of this post!

"Jewelry has the power to be the one little thing that makes you feel unique" - Elizabeth Taylor

Jewelry is NOT optional in my opinion.  The only time I'm without earrings, wedding rings or a watch is at the gym or pool. Jewelry adds the sparkle, the shin and finishing touch that makes you feel  just like a Princess.
Fact: You're never too old to dress up and feel like a Princess!

Jewelry is such a diverse element of fashion and there's a style for every gal. Whether you're traditional with a strand of pearls, minimal with dainty pieces, edgy with graphic lines, natural with stones & leather or over the top with rhinestone statement pieces your jewelry let's your personality shine!

I have a little bit of every style in my jewelry box but I primarily wear classic, sometimes vintage, shiny gold pieces and big rings! Despite having teeny tiny hands I love wearing big, dare I say gaudy, rings!

Wear what you like gals and let your personality shine!

Here are some of my favorites for jewelry ....

My most favorite for delicate pieces that are great for everyday and layering.
I wear these gold hoops ALL the time.
