Friday Favorites: Little White Tops

TGIF! I'm writing to you from the mountains again. But this time just a couple hours from home.  I received the opportunity for Vivian & I to join our sweet friends and we skirted the rules and went.
It's been a joy to treat her to her very own girls' weekend.

Note: This is a stretch for me but I'm growing to embrace spontaneity!!!

The one thing I have the MOST of in my closet is white tops. It's a collection at this point.
They're crisp, clean and brighten!

Here are some pretty white tops ....

Linen the Fabric of Summer

Linen is easy breezy light and easy! It's 'The' fabric for Summer.  It's thin, natural and wears beautifully.
Essential for surviving the scorching days!

Bonus: They're the only garments where you don't have to stress the wrinkles!

Style Tip: White can be sheer (most problematic for pants) so I encourage you to opt for pieces with a lining or in a color.

I love this top as it is so versatile styled with skirts, jeans & shorts. The cropped length (not too short) is modern but also still allows for a bra (a must for me!)

Friday Favorites: Muscle Tanks & Not So Short Shorts

TGIF! The temps are rising around here which means outfits are getting smaller in efforts to stay cool.

circa Summer 2017
Still love these denim shorts

This is an area of anxiety for me as shorts are a Summer staple and I struggle to be confident with my legs despite the rigorous exercising I've been doing for decades. I literally pray and coach myself in working to be grateful for their strength, speed and health.  They've carried me nearly 38 years without fail, even through a few half marathons, and while they'll never be strutting down a runway, they are a gift.

I'm a petite gal, but proportionately my legs are a bit bigger.  It's a challenge to find shorts that fit the waist and hips while having ample room in the leg.

Ta-Da! I've found some! I still have to take a deep breath before walking out of my door in them, but I have yet to have someone not be my friend because of a little cellulite and cankles.

Nothing goes better with shorts than a classic cotton tank!

I'm a tank over tee gal because I feel I can move easier, stay a little cooler and they create balanced proportions since I tend to wear more coverage on my lower body. And I actually like my arms and shoulders.

Stylistically, the muscle tank is on trend, but it's also functional in that you won't have to worry about concealing your bra straps and the wider strong shoulder helps create an hourglass silhouette.

Here are my favorite tanks & shorts:

These Shorts are high rise and have plenty of room in the leg.
Sizing: I typically go down in jeans to a 24 in this brand, but in shorts I stayed true to size at 25
These are much lower in price than designer options and are better fit and quality in my opinion!

This tank is super soft with delicate pleating at the shoulder.
I have it in 5 colors (8 available) I love it so much. I have both sizes xs & xs petite
Fantastic price!

tank sold out :(

These chino shorts are very soft, sit higher on the waist and have a slight stretch for comfort.
I have them in 4 colors and took my normal size 0.

Wore this color yesterday - Best part, price is right!
2 fit options & 8 colors I chose the standard/modern fit

My top - lots of colors.

I also have these denim shorts. Lots of room in the leg!

These longer high rise denim shorts have received great reviews.  I have them ordered but I did size up.
5 wash/finish options

I have them ordered in my normal size.

Muscle Tank - 3 colors

Friday Favorites: Black for Spring

TGIF! As you probably know, I rarely wear black but when I do make it with ruffles and puff sleeves pretty please. I believe that's the key to keeping such a dark hue from becoming too heavy.  Feminine details keep the look more fun than formal.

When wearing black I like to try and mimic the chic way Audrey Hepburn styled the classic color. She kept it sleek and youthful. It also helped that her attitude and smile exuded happiness.

Style Tip: Avoid polished accessories such as pearls and rhinestones but rather opt for shiny gold and natural beaded baubles to keep it more casual & modern.

Here are some pretty black beauties for Spring ...

Dark & Light

I'm loving a black top and light jeans look.  The juxtaposition of the two makes for a sharp yet relaxed look. Black tends to be a formal color and a light wash jean is nothing but casual so when paired together you get a balanced ensemble that can transend across occasions.

Personally, I believe it's the atypical pairing of pieces that create the most interesting outfits.

When styling contrasting garments together, you stretch outside the 'event' box by having both elements of dressy and carefree. This also optimizes your wardrobe by creating versatile outfits.

I eyed this blouse for a while as I loved the ruffles, modern details and shape. I rarely wear black, so when I do it must make a statement!

Friday Favorites: Gold Jewelry

TGIF! Gals, I love gold jewelry.  It's shiny and classic.  I wear it every day and personally prefer it to be on the smaller scale.  Don't get me wrong I find larger baubles glamorous and great statement makers but for my frame and comfort I gravitate towards daintier pieces.

Gold also compliments any look and adds class, in my opinion.  I'm headed out of town for a gals weekend and I'm bringing all the shine!

Here are some of my favorite gold jewelry pieces ...
