Friday Favorites: Sunny Side

TGIF! Gals, I believe it's true that if we keep on the sunny side it will help us every day to stay bright.

Also, dressing yourself in a pretty yellow can also make you feel as good as gold despite whatever the day may bring (it's safe to say we've been given some crazy challenges this year).

Yellow can often be an intimidating color to wear. This saturated jewel tone (think of a peacock feather) is rich and warm so it compliments all skin and hair colors. It's referred to as honey, marigold, ocher, mustard, saffron, gold and sunflower. It one of the pretties colors for Fall and I don't know about you but I'm ready to embrace a new cooler season.

Here are 20 pieces in this sunny shade ...

I added this belt for a more structured shape and my favorite, most worn shoes this summer, these espadrilles.  When it actually does cool off a pair of botties and denim jacket will pair perfectly.

The It Frock

Style elements that are trending hot: smocking, puff sleeves, tiny floral prints and midi length dresses.  This frock has them all! This dress resonated with me for the lavender, orange, and blue colors popping through in this wild flower print and the light weight fabric that makes it perfect all year.  Sandals for warm weather, sneakers for any weather and booties/boots for cooler weather.
I can't wait to add a denim or a moto jacket this Fall.

Friday Favorites: Fall Transition

TGIF! Today I'm tickled pink I got to meet my newest baby niece!!! I soaked up nearly 2 hours of snuggles and am seriously obsessed with her hair. Vivian Louise now has two girl cousins to play and grow up with :)

Unless you're living under a rock everything is back-to-school & Fall ... I honestly love all the excitement of starting school #nerd but Fall??? We have months left of hot weather so hold your pumpkins!

But since the stores are putting it out there, here are several pieces I love to transition to Fall:

In-Between

Gals, it's officially Fall AND it's starting to actually feel like it! Ok it's still warm but I'm not in danger of heat stroke when I go for a run. While we are all itching for sweater weather I don't foresee it happening for another several weeks, at least for us here in the South.  But I'm ready for a change in my wardrobe. So, here we are, a way to transition from Summer to Fall for the in between weather.

The top says warmer weather, (well actually all year because you can layer over) the plaid pants say cooler temps and the booties say it all in a Summer shade but Fall/Winter design.

So here you have it, a look that bridges the seasonal gap.

This top I've had for several years, it's a favorite I wear all year long. And it's subtle stripes make its perfect pairing even with this plaid - think of it as lines on top of lines. Also, the blue in the top brings out the bits of blue in the plaid.

These pants in the paper bag waist, wide leg design are all the rage and I'm cool with it because they're super comfortable and make your waist look super small.

Now, the booties.  I'm normally a rule follower but as y'all know I'm obsessed with white so to limit my wear of the bright clean neutral to the days between Memorial Day & Labor Day feels like a punishment. So as I'm writing this I'm wearing white jeans and thinking of when I can strut these new booties out. They are the softest leather and the white actually has a hint of cream to it so perfectly acceptable.  Shoot I'll just call them winter white and all is good.
The kitten heel is just right for a dressier shoe without all the discomfort.

Now if you wanted to make this look more casual - swap the button front with a comfy t-shirt or sweater. And swap the booties for a ballet flat.

Work with what you have gals!

Bedazzling into Fall

Bedazzling was ALL the Range in the 90's ... and Today Designers have Embraced the Sparkling Gems in a More Sophisticated Way Using Broach-Like Clusters of Rhinestones.

Bling isn't just for Evenings and Formal Wear.  Today the Simplest of T-Shirts are Jazzed with Bling.

I was Drawn to the Beading on this Cynthia Steffe Dress for it's Sunburst Pattern, Turquoise Color, and it's Not-So-Sparkling Beads.

This Dress is a Great Transition Piece for Fall as it has Light Colors (Cream not White ... a True Southern Gal Stays True to Tradition = No White!)  and a Bit of Dark with a Black Bottom.  The Fabric is of a Heavier Weight, Pairing Nicely with a Pair of Black Tights for the Colder Months Ahead.
