Ivory Romance

Isn't it romantic? The lace, soft sweater and flowy skirt all in a creamy ivory color exude a feminine and light look. I could wear an all white outfit everyday! I find 'Winter white' which is just another term for ivory, cream, or off-white fresh and unexpected during these cold months.  And since down here in the South we don't actually get white Winters we can still have that 'pure as the driven snow' sensation.

While the outfit is monochromatic I did incorporate contrast with the textures of the fabrics & shoes. The delicate lace neckline against the thick pointelle knit (woolen fabric with small eyelet holes) paired with the light pleated skirt creates a balanced combination that keeps you seasonally appropriate.

Now these loafers! My oh my they stopped me in my tracks when I saw them on the table in the shoe department.  First, they're ivory so they spark color joy and second the two toned bit shines so bright and third the block heel elevates to the perfect height.  These are timeless and just so sharp!
The sophisticated, menswear inspired style adds so much chic to so many outfits!

Fashion is out there everywhere but style, style is how you put it all together. For me it's light palettes, feminine details and classic pieces.

Knits & Pleats

Well gals, because soft sweaters are are cozy and a pleated skirt makes great twirls this outfit is undeniably pretty fabulous. Need I go on?!

Now for the accessories I mixed the classy with the edgy, pearls and studded pumps.
Pearls are not just for old ladies, personally I love wearing mine.  They're forever cherished pieces that I hope to pass down to baby Vivian Louise and for even her to pass down. Keeping your outfit modern will remove any 'Grandma' vibes.

I wore this outfit to church this past Sunday but it would be perfect for the office or an upcoming holiday shindig. Replace the sweater with a blouse and you have year long wear.

This sweater has a puff sleeve, but NOT the 80's kind (although there are tiny shoulder pads sewn in).  That's most of the reason I bought it, I have very narrow and small shoulders and I feel it balances my shape.

Pinot & Pleats

Back in the 80's and 90's a dress or skirt that fell below the knee and above the ankle was referred to as 'Tea' length.  Today it's referred to as 'Midi'.  I've see this longer hem line trend grow over the past few seasons but as a petite gal at 5'2" I shied away as I was fearful that the extra fabric would overwhelm.  But it's something that's been tugging at me to try.

I found the perfect skirt!  It has all the right elements.  High waist, light fabric and flattering fit.
In a delicate chiffon fabric and accordion pleats it has ladylike movement (I have to try really hard not to twirl).  The front and back panels are flat, preventing too much volume.  I believe that one of the most important design components is the higher waist.  It creates shape and long lines.

What made this skirt even more beautiful and ideal for me was the ivory color.  It's truly my favorite and the most abundant color in my closet.  And just because Summer is technically over doesn't mean you go dark.  No, you can't wear white shoes, pants or dresses but nothing is more refreshing than the coolness of ivory. It's all year appropriate.  Just swap out your pastels and brights for richer hues like this burgundy blouse.

While it's still warm I'm wearing this skirt with light weight tops but a fitted long sleeve tee or sweater with booties are the plan for a casual look come cooler weather.
