Friday Favorites: Silk Scarves & Sweaters

TGIF! Brrrr it's been a cold week here.  If we could just have one good snow day out of it I'd be thrilled.  Vivian has learned all about snow at school, from books and Frozen on repeat.  It would be so fun to see her experience it in real life.

Since every day has been sweater weather to add print, color and a bit of sophistication I've been wearing them with silk scarves. I have quite the collection from years of shopping in antique shops. They were all the rage mid century and I find that they bring luxury and femininity to current styles.

Note: Most of my scarves are vintage but most classic upscale designers carry a line all year long.

Here are some ways I've paired scarves with sweaters ...

And some silk scarves I find to be very pretty ...

also in black

I bet your Grandma or Mamma has a few that you could pass on and cherish in your wardrobe. If not try your local antique or thrift shop. Look for one made of 100% silk and a hand rolled hem.

Winter Florals

Botanical blooms in muted darker colors are sophisticated and add a refreshing pretty look in the colder months. There are plenty of lively plants that thrive in the winter time adding rays of beauty and hope to the often drab and bitter days.

This skirt has so many pretty colors in it that are soft yet they pack an unexpected punch with peaches and dark blues. In a crisp cotton poplin (my most favorite fabric)  it is an all year piece. Paired with sweaters and boots or sandals and tanks come Summer, it's a season-less comfortable feminine piece.

Versatility is so important when deciding to add a garment to your wardrobe.  Prints with several colors are always a plus allowing for options in color pairings. I plan to add a blue blouse to this skirt for church, an ivory top for a monochromatic look, a silk cami for a night out look and a tied up denim shirt for a casual look.
From neutral knits, crisp blouses and soft tees this skirts can create so many looks that will fit for work, play and special occasions. #winner

I purchased this skirt from a local state boutique I discovered on IG!
I love supporting small businesses, especially those with great style!
I highly recommend Clair De Lune

Purple Majesty

Holiday Style is all about glitz, glamour but in a polished manner (New Years Eve comes later where you can replace the polished element with sass). Purple is an elegant color.  It's one that has been associated with royalty throughout time. Its a rich and unique color that's always been a favorite of mine.  However, I have found that it's not such a common color on the racks. So when I find it for myself or Vivian I scoop it up.

I believe it compliments and is just so beautiful on all women regardless of hair or skin tones.

You don't have to wear red or green to have holiday style.  Shop your closet for rich colors and pair with black and heavy textures for a seasonally fitting ensemble. Bows and gold are always fun to accessorize with.  My black skirt is vintage.  Pieces from the past are my most treasured in my closet for their unique, classic and storied beauty. They also tend to be made with the highest of quality.

Put on some purple and feel like a royal!

Friday Favorites: Christmas Red

TGIF! Christmas Red is the color of the season. Red ribbons, red Santas, red noosed reindeer and a fresh red striped candy cane. The crimson color is bold and bright and seeing it everywhere truly makes spirits bright.

Red isn't a color I typically wear in my garments, probably because I'm wearing red on my head everyday with my hair.  But I absolutely love to accessorize with red! It's a primary color and a classic to compliment with all year long.

Here are some beautiful Christmas Red pieces ...

I'm wearing this one in the pic above

Friday Favorites: Dudley Stephens Fleece

TGIF! Gals, let me just share what an exciting week this has been.  It's been 'demo day' for most it, as we are finally renovating our guest bathroom, powder room, sunroom, laundry room and having some exterior work done.  The best and last piece of the project is installation of wallpaper in two rooms!!!
That's a whole series of posts to include the process and the amazing before & afters!
I will share that after living here for 2 years and with a 6 month delay #corona I'm just so jazzed to have this project underway! And to have the boxes of tile, sinks and toilets out of our den!

Today I'm sharing with you the softest, warmest, most comfortable fleece pieces ... that are made from recycled bottles!

Note: we will NOT be recycling anything from this Reno (there was nothing pretty about those 1963 raw materials)

I found Dudley Stephens a few years ago and have been a fan ever since.  It is a female founded, family run company that manufactures right here in the USA! What started with their signature turtlenecks has expanded into a full line of cozy products for everyone!

I love the array of color options and fabric so soft you just want to hug yourself :)

Style Tip: Don't stick to just casual pairings, a midi skirt or layering over a dress is a warm and chic option!

Here are my favorites tops ...

available in 17 colors
This is my favorite design!
It hits at the top of your hips which is an ideal length in my opinion to create flattering proportions.

This one is a tunic length.
If you must wear leggings (eye roll they're NOT pants but wear what you will)
This one is suitable as it covers your derriere (that is a MUST)

This is on my Christmas list. It's a new design with a puff sleeve! So SL!

If high turtlenecks aren't your thing, this one is for you
Lots of color and 3 fabric options

This cowl neck can drape or graze your shoulder is perfect.

A casual zippered top, perfect for weekends
The Putnam pullover is in color block

They have a line of BottomsDresses, Outerwear, Mens, Kids, & Accessories!

When you're making your Christmas list for yourself or others, I promise a Dudley Stephens piece will be a favorite to unwrap!
