Pearls & Plaid

It's Christmas Week!!! Vivian is out of school and I'm enjoying spending these days together just us two preparing for the festivities.  I'm done shopping but have so, so much wrapping to do.

For me, dressing for Christmas activities is fun. I like to stay traditional and timeless with my holiday style.

Pearls and plaid are two timeless classics that I believe pair beautifully. While a single strand of pearls are the most formal you can embrace a more modern look with pearl jewelry that incorporates chains and various colors.

When it comes to plaid prints, they can often masculine but in pinks and bright colors it can take on a cheerful look.

Amidst all the hustle and bustle of the holiday I encourage you to take a bit of time to look as joyful as the season feels!

Friday Favorites: Festive Tops

TGIF! I have my first holiday event tomorrow. I know I've shared with you sparkly sequin tops but those are very specific & often one time wear pieces. A top with luster, embellishment and modern design are just as festive but can translate to any dressy occasion not just Christmas and New Years.

also in black here

And they're easy to style with classic black pants or jeans!!! Try a flare cut - I'm all about their comeback.

Here are some fabulous festive tops ...

Maximize in a Long Sleeve Mini

Gals, holiday dressing is everywhere! Satin, sparkles, bows and of course rich colors - red, green & black.
While all of these elements are festive, they don't always go beyond that special occasion.

A long sleeve printed mini dress is not only lovely but it transcends across occasions and seasons.
This one in a print of jewel tones can be styled with statement jewelry, heels and fur for a soiree. (also consider dark tights)
For daytime add boots and a sweater vest and come Spring time a denim jacket and sandal.

The deep V neckline along with the puff sleeve and twirly skirt adds a lot of modern style & sass!

The wide smocked waist is very slimming!

Purple Majesty

Holiday Style is all about glitz, glamour but in a polished manner (New Years Eve comes later where you can replace the polished element with sass). Purple is an elegant color.  It's one that has been associated with royalty throughout time. Its a rich and unique color that's always been a favorite of mine.  However, I have found that it's not such a common color on the racks. So when I find it for myself or Vivian I scoop it up.

I believe it compliments and is just so beautiful on all women regardless of hair or skin tones.

You don't have to wear red or green to have holiday style.  Shop your closet for rich colors and pair with black and heavy textures for a seasonally fitting ensemble. Bows and gold are always fun to accessorize with.  My black skirt is vintage.  Pieces from the past are my most treasured in my closet for their unique, classic and storied beauty. They also tend to be made with the highest of quality.

Put on some purple and feel like a royal!

Friday Favorites: Organza Blouses

TGIF! Gracious what a week, so let's share some pretty news shall we?!  Organza is a sheer fabric that's typically silk.  Because it's sheer it's most commonly designed in dressy garments and often styled during the holidays.

I find the fabric to be delicate and feminine. When styled casually with jeans you get a contrasting look that's modern & chic.

Tip: Go out side the typical box and pair soft dressy pieces with textured casual pieces.  This creates versatility in your wardrobe, maximizing the investment of you pieces and it creates interesting & current outfits.

Here are beautiful organza blouses ...

Don't Get Your Tinsel in a Tangle

1 week til Christmas!!!

While time is limited to do ALL the things before the big day one thing you shouldn't be stressing is your outfit.

Every year stores pack their racks with shiny sparkly pieces for the holiday season. I'll bet money that you've purchased one or three over the years, wore it to an event and it's hanging up collecting dust or you've donated it.

I get a gleam in my eye at sequins, beads and metallic numbers too but I also know that they will only be worn once a year and I certainly don't need to give a percentage of my wardrobe to them.

Here are 5 ways to style a holiday statement outfit using pieces that you can get lots of wear out of and quite possibly right out of your closet!

1. COLOR

Red, green and black aren't the only shades for the season.  Bright colored pieces are bold and give you all year wear.

2. WINTER WHITE

My FAVORITE!!! I would wear head to toe white every single day if I could. Did I mention it's my favorite?! It's so clean, crisp and everyone's dreaming of a white Christmas.

3. LACE

Lace is so feminine with it's delicate texture.  In colors and lighter designs it can go from dressy to casual by pairing it with a pair of jeans.

4. FUR COLLARS

I adore fur!  I know it's a controversial topic so I'll tread lightly.  Most of my fur is vintage and I have quite the collection of collars.  These days it's easy to find faux fur options to accessorize your winter ensembles. Think of them as a necklace that you can add to dresses, blouses, sweaters or even a jumpsuit for a luxurious look.

5. RHINESTONE JEWELRY

A statement piece of jewelry easily pairs with just about anything in your closet. And great for occasions such as weddings and nights out.  They instantly shine up even the most basic of garments.
Tip: Be careful of knits as they can snag

Available in 3 colors - Matching Necklace
