Skirt of Many Colors

Well gals, Summer is coming to an end (kiddos went back to school Monday) and Labor Day weekend is just days away. So, it's about darn time I get back to blogging!

As much as I love sharing style with you, I've loved soaking up baby Vivian Louise way more ... and she pays in kisses, snuggles and smiles that take up her entire face!
I'll share an update on baby girl (you really should watch my Instagram stories, you'll find everything we're up to there) very soon.

PS She's 8 months old today! I might have cried on our stroll this morning, it was our last one in her bassinet. Moving up to the big girl seat tomorrow.

I thought for this post I'd incorporate my signature favorite, a crisp white shirt and all the colors in this striped midi skirt.

In my personal opinion, you can't go wrong with a crisp white shirt (nor can you have too many!)
It brings a level of sophistication and class to your look.  It's also comfortable (cotton) and will always be in style. It's the perfect balance to this rainbow striped chiffon skirt.

This skirt is one of those everything pieces.  It goes with everything all year long.
Top it off with just about any color or any style ... cami for a night out, button up for the office, sweater for cold, denim for the weekend ... you get the point.
Oh and don't forget shoes: sandals, heels, booties etc...

The waist is elastic so it's perfect for tucking and fit.
Also, the longer length is chic!

I hope you've had a wonderful summer and are as jazzed as I am to start fresh and get back to it (whatever 'it' is for you).

Cutie Collar

Can I just share that I started this week on the sweetest note! This past weekend I was blessed with two loving baby showers and I'm still in awe of the kindness generously given to us!  I can't wait to share it with you soon :)
(Last week was consumed with business travel followed by hosting family and friends so I didn't get a chance to post - I promise I'll catch up)

Most Mammas-to-be do not want to invest in maternity clothes and I hear ya! It's temporary and expensive however I know I still want to maintain style while growing.  Another challenging element would be dressing professional in the office - there's no shortage of maternity tees and leggings but try and find suiting and you'll feel like you're hunting for a needle in a hay stack. Trust me - I've done the hunt and had some success that I shared on this post.

I also do not care for all of the super fitted maternity garments, I prefer a looser fit.
Confession: I just can't get comfortable with being bigger.

This dress I love because it's a classic black with cute scalloped white collar.  It's soft and swingy.  I would wear a black dress with a white collar without the bump. I'll have to add black tights now that the temps have finally dropped.
PS This baby girl has me so warm that I'm freezing Mr out in our house!

Simply Striped

Stripes are simply a classic print that every gal must embrace. A classic black and white striped top and dress are staples for your wardrobe that I promise you will wear over and over.

They pair beautifully with everything – colors, textures and even other prints, like leopard!

This dress is a maternity dress.  I don’t technically need it quite yet, however I don’t want to reach a point where I literally have nothing to wear and find myself scrounging and paying full price at the store.  So, I’ve taken advantage of sales and promotions and have been purchasing ahead.

This dress has amazing structure and shapely paneling that creates confidence for a growing silhouette.  Like I shared before I’m not a fan of cotton/jersey fitted dresses.  I didn’t wear thin unstructured fabric garments before so I have no desire to start now.  I believe clothing pieces should skim the body. It’s just flattering and classy.

I styled this dress how I would normally style a striped dress.  I plan to keep my maternity style as close to my normal as possible -  I already have crisp dress shirts, pencil skirts and A-line dresses.

Since we are technically in Fall despite the just plain hot temps, I layered with another classic, the denim jacket.  You should all have one and if not shame on you.
I added a pop of color with my red bag so I kept the shoe neutral. Check out the back of this dress J

Don’t hesitate to style with added print with a scarf or shoe.  I foresee a trench, camel sweater and boots pairing next month … maybe even tights & colored coat come November.  Seriously the options are endless.

If you do happen to be like me (there are a couple of you sweet gals aka belly buddies) on a mission of  ‘being a babe while having a babe’ you NEED this dress!

And for the rest of you I’ve linked less roomy options down below.
