Cutie Collar

Can I just share that I started this week on the sweetest note! This past weekend I was blessed with two loving baby showers and I'm still in awe of the kindness generously given to us!  I can't wait to share it with you soon :)
(Last week was consumed with business travel followed by hosting family and friends so I didn't get a chance to post - I promise I'll catch up)

Most Mammas-to-be do not want to invest in maternity clothes and I hear ya! It's temporary and expensive however I know I still want to maintain style while growing.  Another challenging element would be dressing professional in the office - there's no shortage of maternity tees and leggings but try and find suiting and you'll feel like you're hunting for a needle in a hay stack. Trust me - I've done the hunt and had some success that I shared on this post.

I also do not care for all of the super fitted maternity garments, I prefer a looser fit.
Confession: I just can't get comfortable with being bigger.

This dress I love because it's a classic black with cute scalloped white collar.  It's soft and swingy.  I would wear a black dress with a white collar without the bump. I'll have to add black tights now that the temps have finally dropped.
PS This baby girl has me so warm that I'm freezing Mr out in our house!

TGIF! Now that it's March I can see Spring just around the corner.  Until I saw the weather for this weekend and the cold front that's going to rain all over my excitement for time outside. sigh.

BUT there's a silver lining!  It's Banana Republic's friends & family sale through Sunday where you can score 5 full priced pieces at 50% off.  Gals, this is a fabulous opportunity to get classic pieces with modern elements!  Whether you're looking to amp up your work wardrobe or to add fun frocks for upcoming soirees I promise you'll find the perfect fit!

Here are the 5 pieces I brought home ... Stay tuned for how I style them in upcoming posts!

Peachy

Isn't this dress just Peachy?!!!

I've always loved the color peach.  It's sweet and soft and reminds me of warm weather.  One of my favorite treats are ripe juicy peaches bought on the roadside while traveling on vacation.  Something about the spontaneity of pulling off the road for fresh air and picking up homegrown elements for a backyard supper filled with carefree happiness that makes me smile ... and want to go pack my bags!

I'm all about a good sale - I don't believe in paying full price - unless I absolutely can't avoid it.  Loft is amazing for it's generous promotions.  I find myself frequently taking advantage.  This dress along with a couple other pieces made it in my shopping bag for a steal!

Besides the color, the laser cut scalloping, crop top design and open back are delicate details that make it ladylike and yet very modern.

The open back is just a sneak peak of interest but still provides ample coverage.

This week I'm going to share my love for these trending crop top dresses.  They create flattering lines and are a modern twist on the ever so popular styles of the 1960's.
Mid-Century fashion - it's my muse!

Scalloped Collar

Collars are Chic Ways to Add Interest and Focus to Your Look.

Collars Draw the Eye Upwards Towards Your Face.  They have the Same Effect as a Statement Necklace.

This Dress is Another One of my Pieces from Belk through their Southern Designer Showcase Featuring South Carolina Boutique Designer LaRoque

I Love the Vibrancy of the Teal and it's Contrast aging the Bright White Collar.

The Scalloped Hem of the Collar adds a Soft and Ladylike Touch.

Scallops & Stripes

Stripes have been the #1 Print Trend the Past Few Seasons and They are Still Strong on the Scene.

Stripes have Clean Lines adding Sharpness to a Look.  They can also Give a Nautical Feel for Spring/Summer.

Scalloped Hemlines are Popping Up in Dresses, Skirts, Shorts and Jackets.
To Me, a Scalloped Hem is Feminine and Softer on a Gal's Curvy Body.

This Jacket Incorporates Several Details that Made it a Must Have:

  • Large Bold Stripes
  • Scalloped Center Trim
  • Industrial Zipper
  • Medialian Embossed Texture
  • Classic Collarless Silhouette

I Paired it with a Bright Pink Dress to Contrast the Black & White... I'd Love to Pair it With Floral for Some Print Mixing
For a More Casual Look, Pair with a Tee and Jeans.
