Friday Favorites: Denim Mini Skirts

TGIF! This has been our first week of Summer and it is off to such a fun start! I've truly enjoyed time with our darling Vivian playing outside and tackling some fun projects with her because next week starts camps and vacations.

Back (no need to share how far back) when I was in college denim mini skirts were all the rage. Particularly with a fitted tee and belt. We were all girls that shopped at Abercrombie & Fitch #iykyk

Denim Skirt (I sized up)

I personally find them to be classic and a feminine option to the denim short.

Here are some denim skirts to sass up your Summer style ...

Friday Favorites: Dresses with Ruffles

TGIF! Today is very bittersweet for me. I am stepping down from leading a ministry this past year and celebrating the end of Vivian's time in preschool with her class's end of year party.  If I share more I just may start crying so let's discuss dresses with ruffles!

This dress has all the girly details in the puff sleeves, pink print and ruffled hem. Ruffled hems add a sassy touch and silhouette! I also think a pair of sneakers is casual chic with these dresses!

Friday Favorites: Girlie Tops

TGIF! It's been a good week but the weekend is going to be the best! Vivian is hosting a few little gal pals from school this afternoon for a lemonade party, pizza and movie are tonight, tomorrow after soccer we are visiting my Mamma and Sunday we will celebrate Palm Sunday at church!

All the fun Spring activities and fashion are here and I'm enjoying it all! I'm a girlie girl so I gravitate to tops with ruffles, collars, embroidery and in pastel colors!

Stand Out Top

To me a stand out top with a good pair of jeans and a heel just a smidge too tall for for comfort is a perfect outfit for those 'I want to look sassy' occasions.  Maybe it's a girls night out, a date night, or a celebration and while you could wear a dress (I'll never say no), I find it modern, chic and effortlessly cool to jazz up a pair of jeans.

This top looks worldly to me in the print and muted colors while the shoulder ruffles and peplum give it lots of femininity. I like adding unique pieces to my wardrobe that break up the classics to keep my style current. And while jeans are always a good choice, skirts and shorts are cute pairing options too (especially when it gets hot).

Frilly

I've always been a girlie girl.  My love of pink, bows and frills hasn't diminished from my days as a little girl and thank goodness I have darling Vivian to share it with.

This top has everything but the kitchen sink when it comes to feminine details: tiny pastel florals, ruffles, puff sleeves, lace trim, embroidered scalloped hem and pearl buttons down the back. The design is modern with a shorter length and dramatic sleeve.  It clearly checks all the pretty boxes and as a bonus it's even practical in a super light weight fabric so you're not a puddle in this Summer heat.

I think tiered ruffle minis skirts are fun and sassy but not when their hem is so short you feel like you can't move. I shared this post on mini skirts that aren't too mini several weeks ago and this skirt is a perfect example.  An elastic waist is key to adjusting where it sits, holding your tops tucked in and highlighting your waist.

Get a little frilly with your next outfit ... I promise you'll feel pretty!

Ruffles On Ruffles

Gals, I love ruffles. The gathered edges create such a feminine detail. They can be as big or small as you like and in the case of this outfit I chose both! More is more.

The large sleeves on this blouse draw attention upwards towards my face and add volume to my shoulders both of which flatter by elongating my shape and slimming the waist.
The fabric is crisp so the shape of the design holds!

These shorts are super comfortable with an elastic waist to hold your tops in, pleated leg for room and a tulip hem that also gives room and creates a long leg line as opposed to a straight hem that cuts the leg straight across.
My legs are on the fuller side so these details are key for a good fit.

PS my hair will be taking a more natural and pinned back position as the humidity has arrived here in the South and it's fierce!

Ruffled

 What ruffles your feathers?

For me it's not being early, clutter, bad weather (I currently can not remember how many days it's been since I've seen the sun!), lazy people and disrupted plans #typeA

Ruffled tops and dresses, now that's a win! Ruffles are a soft flutter of fabric that adds delicate emphasis and flounce to your step! This detail is a big trend right now & I couldn't be happier about it.

Since it's been days and days of frigid cold (well for us Southerners) and dark grey rainy skies, I'm lifting my spirits browsing Spring styles.

Here are some pretty ruffled pieces ...

I have this top in petite and love it!
