Light & Lemony

Cotton is the king of fabrics for me. It's natural, breathable, comfortable and just feels so good! Not to mention down here in the south, key for surviving the heat.

I have more crisp white cotton tops than I should admit, but I just love them so so much! They create a bright fresh look with whatever you pair them with. This skirt, also in a crisp cotton poplin fabric and a light lemony botanical print is easy breezy.  The earthy colors and botanical print are interesting but in a traditional way.
This print spoke to me and I encourage you to look for prints that do the same.
When you love a piece of clothing you'll wear it with confidence and have fun styling it! I believe in enjoying your clothes.

Fun Fact: Lemon flavored and printed anything is my favorite!

I paired them with these on trend clogs (they give me a whole new view with the height!) and a statement necklace for added shine, texture and color.  It really breaks up the solid white blouse. I'm really working to wear more of my jewelry this year.

This Spring/Summer keep cool & beautiful in crisp cotton.

Closet Clean Out

Happy Monday! This weekend was super cold with some rain on Saturday making it perfect to stay home and tackle some projects.  I picked a big one, cleaning out my closet.  I actually do this twice a year when I swap out seasonal pieces and store them.

When it comes to my wardrobe, I'm far from a minimalist!!! I have garments I've been wearing for over a decade to ones I've worn once and probably shouldn't have purchased. As seasons in our lives change so does our style needs.  Suits were a staple several years ago and now it's jeans and cute tops.

I favor the Marie Kondo method when organizing. Decide if an item sparks joy, if so keep. If not, thank it for its service and either donate or sell. I have more than most gals, but I love each and every piece. It's not about having a certain quantity but the quality. (within reason - I do NOT condone hoarding!)

Today I want to share my tips for maintaining a stylish & tidy closet ...

1. Organize by Color & Type

I hang my garments from light to dark
and from sleeveless to long sleeve (tops & dresses)

2. Ready to Wear

They should all be pressed & wrinkle free - if it needs ironing you may not wear it due to time and effort.
If an alteration or repair needs to be made set it aside and address promptly

3. Display Current Season

When you can see it, you'll wear it
Display your accessories, handbags & shoes along with your clothes
I do store away my off season pieces.
There's not enough room and for over half the year I won't be wearing them.
They are easily accessible should I need to find something.
Keeping your options in sight is more intentional.

4. Fold Clothes in File Fashion

I fold my clothes in a file fashion as opposed to a stack so that I can easily see what I have.
This allows for easy dressing and utilization of my wardrobe.
In a stack, you always makes a mess when searching/picking out a piece.
You also may find yourself only wearing the ones at the top.

5. Uniform Storage

Clearly I have a thing for nude shoes

I use thin velvet hangers throughout. I also use cream baskets for storage.
Each and every closet is unique. Find storage solutions that work for your space/items and make them uniform.  Clear containers are very nice as they allow you to see what's inside.
I also love shelf & drawer dividers for keeping things in their own space.

Dressing yourself should be fun!
And a whole lot easier & timely when your closet is organized with pieces you love!

Friday Favorites: Beautiful Baubles

TGIF! Gals this week went by fast, they say that happens when you're having fun and I surely have. Jewelry is a shiny, beautiful and unique way to add fun to your outfit. Think about it, you put on a pretty top, jeans and your favorite flats and while it's cute and put together it's missing shine and a whole lot of personality.

Jewelry really showcases your style. I have a gal pal who loves sculptural and handmade jewelry and another who loves big bright baubles and another who only wears fine jewelry. Accessorizing can really showcase who you are.

For me, I find that I tend to wear the same classic pieces daily and only style the fun, unique pieces for special occasions.  It's one of my goals this year to wear more of my jewelry.

I want to share with you some beautiful baubles from some smaller designers sure to add a beaucoup of style

This designer also makes gorgeous hardware ... I have several pieces picked out for our. home.

Gingham & Bubble Gum

Gals, let me first showcase the prettiest of colors that ever will be, bubble gum pink. This ultimate girlie color brings me more cheer than any other. In a crisp cotton and grand length, this bright pink maxi is all things comfortable and gorgeous.

As quintessential Barbie as this pink color is, as is a gingham check print to Spring. Florals may dominate the season but this perpendicular graphic is a close second. This pattern is simple and makes me want to sit out under the sun enjoying a picnic with my dears.

I went casual tying this blouse at the waist and look forward to styling with a crop top for a summer shindig, a printed tee for day time and a tweed jacket for church.

I encourage you to style pink and gingham this Spring.

5 Ways to Go Bananas

Happy Monday gals! This past weekend was warm, sunny and full of fun! We celebrated my niece and Vivian's bestest cousin friend in the whole wide world's birthday and even had a sleepover at our house.  I took both girls to church dressed just alike and oh my heavens they were the cutest little church girlies! - see my IG for pictures :)

I'm always sharing that versatility is key for making purchases and have a diverse wardrobe.  It's equally important to shop your own closet, styling looks with what you have, rather than adding new.  Great style doesn't equal having the latest!

So, I'm taking this colorful banana print blouse and pairing it 5 different ways with pieces I've had for quite some time.  I kept the heels the same (they're my new fav for this upcoming Spring/Summer) and simply changed the bottoms. Any sandal casual or dressy will style beautifully with any of these looks.

I hope these visuals help inspire you to create a multitude of outfits with what you have!

Love these White Jeans! They're a bright beautiful staple for warm weather.
Personally, I like a little distressing for a modern touch.

I love the tan color - beautiful with bright white tops and forgiving when it comes to stains
b/c this season is all about play - am I right?!
