Walking on Sunshine

Gals, I'm literally walking on sunshine! Yesterday was my 35th birthday and I couldn't be more blessed to welcome this year.  Last year when I blew out the candles on my cake my wish was for God to gift us a healthy baby. Here I sit with the most beautiful baby girl!

It's amazing how much has changed in the past year ... I survived 8 months of pregnancy (puking my guts up daily), an emergency c-section delivery, a premie baby who is now 4 months old in 2 days and nursing with it's epic struggles. Crazy Changes!!!

I feel so blessed (do not confuse that ... my life is NOT problem free) that I struggled to come up with a wish this year. Vivian Louise has certainly changed my perspective on things that really matter and the things that just aren't so important any more.

Now, I still care about what I wear.  Although  nursing makes me look at the functionality of outfits first ugh (still not a fan but still doing it and still feeling like a dairy cow)
Note: this dress is not nursing friendly but I don't let that run my life, I'll just limit it to shorter outings/occasions like church, dates or with my gal pals

Eyelet is my sister's favorite fabric so when I saw this yellow dress I immediately thought of her.  I love the midi length and the tiered design.  The pom pom balls are added fun :)
Kate Spade designed a very similar dress last year but it was a bit pricey.  This one looks just like it!

I don't really own much yellow in my wardrobe so adding this sunny dress brought some happy to my closet.

Note: This dress is from the Crown & Ivy line at Belk - sadly I couldn't find it online

Dot Dot Dot

Hey gals, so I feel like the blog has seriously been a "..." situation.  Like who knows when she'll post again ... sigh I try but if it makes you feel any better I truly am living my best life over here!

I spend my days with baby girl, friends, family basically enjoying all the best life has to offer.  And while there are moments where I miss the corporate hustle this maternity leave break beats any accomplishment made in the office. #TRUTH

I do have good intentions to post, Vivian Louise is sleeping through the night every night and I'm starting to get a routine and increase productivity but I will stop it all and soak up the snuggles because babies don't keep!

So for this outfit I mixed a classic polka dot blouse with the come back of beige.  I typically don't go for polka dots but I love this version because the base is white (favorite) and the dots are huge making a bolder statement. It's also sleeveless, my go-to, with ruffles for extra femininity and button front so nursing friendly (I can't believe that's my first thoughts when looking at clothes these days).

Remember back in the day when khaki was the 'IT' neutral? We all had khaki pants, just admit it.  Well, while I don't believe in bringing those back (go for a pair of chinos in olive, blue or blush) this beige skirt is far from boring.  It's a flattering fit, comfortable, with pockets and crazy affordable.

Pair it with tees and saturated colors and its a piece you can wear from work to weekend.

Friday Favorites: Jumpsuits

TGIF!

This is one of the most special weekends for our baby girl.  We are dedicating Vivian Louise at   church on Sunday.
There are not enough words to fully express our gratitude to God for the blessing of her.
As parents we want to raise her in His image, to love God and others above herself.

Mr's parents are in town (spoiling her rotten) and she even got to meet Mr's brother for the first time at the airport this morning. Sadly he was just passing through but we soaked up the minutes we had.

On Sunday we will host a luncheon for her with both our families at our home.  I'm pulling out my china and silver.  I'm already looking forward to a big slice of cake that my sweet sister is making for her :)

Now to the fashion portion of this post, jumpsuits.  I shared this fabulous pink one with you last week and since they're soooo hot right now I've rounded up several more that I'm loving.  But jumpsuits aren't something you want a ton of in your wardrobe.  They're chic but can be troublesome for bathroom trips and even for fit since they are basically an adult onesie.

The key is just to try them on and not to be afraid of alterations.

This one is so classy and comes in petite sizing.

Love the stripes and halter with the tie sash - although I didn't get to it before it went on backorder I decided to purchase anyway and will be excited this summer when it arrives.

This one says take me on vacation, somewhere warm and tropical!

Clean and Fresh! I can't get enough white in my wardrobe.

Not only is it easy breezy keeping you cool in the Summer heat, this jumpsuit also comes in a bold red!

Blue jean baby! but in a lighter fabric.

Wide Leg Pants

When I first saw these pants I thought they were a skirt.  I didn't figure it out until I was in the dressing room.  I became pleasantly surprised.  I'm all about breezy garments for the summer because it's so hot and because they're so feminine.

I also find the butterfly print fun!

These pants are also very function for this baby mamma with and elastic waist in the back for comfort and two piece outfits are always easiest for feeding baby girl (although I'm not one to nurse away from home ... hoping to share about nursing tops on Monday)

The lace top is one of my favorite purchases this year!  It's so beautiful! Dressed up with a skirt or down with a pair of jeans the neckline detail is simply gorgeous.

These pants are a petite which is great because I didn't have to take them to the tailor for hemming - and I prefer low heeled shoes.

I'll be fluttering around in these quite a bit with a basic t-shirt and flat sandals or in this blouse to church or on vacation.

Tiered Sundress

TGIF! for realz! It's been a fun and productive week - Spring weather has motivated me to spruce up our yard with some landscaping and pink flowers, just in time for our special company arriving next week for Vivian Louise's dedication at church.

This warm weather also has us in vacation mode planning baby girl's first trip to the beach!  And that means vacation outfits.  For me that's sundresses (NOT a shorts gal) oh and bikinis - gals I'm working overtime to get those abs back with lots of sweat sessions.

I'm all about midi dresses over maxi dresses for the summer because I don't have to worry about the length so I can wear wedges or sandals. Also, they are less overwhelming on a petite frame. I love this tiered fabric trend. It adds volume but without being too poofy.  It's also a bit romantic.

This sundress is soft in a blush pink and tiny golden flower print with tiny ruffle details.  I like that the colors aren't so bold like most of my other sundresses.  It would probably look better if my skin had some color but let's be honest being pregnant last year this bod didn't see the light of day.

I'm seeing these tiered dresses everywhere and highly recommend you scooping one up and wearing it on your next vacation, or until then to church, a gals night, or whatever weekend activity you get into.

PS. these wedges are super comfy!

Jumpsuit

Gals, this pink number had me quick to jump on the jumpsuit bandwagon! First, I LOVE pink and this shade is bubblegum perfection.  I saw it on the mannequin and my first instinct was YESSSS.
Once I got into the dressing room I began to get nervous.  Even though I'm super close to my pre-baby figure I'm still carrying around these nursing melons and I didn't know how fussy getting in & out of this one piece would be.

It is so comfortable and pretty easy to put on.  I actually like the wrap design so you can tie to fit.
It's also forgiving with a bit of elastic in the back.
Best part is you can wear a regular bra!  A lot of jumpsuits out there require strapless or no bra at all.  Nobody has time for that kind of discomfort!

I kept the styling super simple with a classic shoe and handbag and just a set a pearl studs and one of my everyday delicate necklaces.

Go ahead and jump right in and try and jumpsuit - you just might be surprised :)
