Worth It Onsie

Rompers, they look like a dress but have the benefit of shorts. In a light weight fabric they're so cool and comfortable for day or night. I love the puff sleeves and roomy fit of this one - so much this is my second. I purchased in a solid light pink last year.

Now, you will be mostly naked each time you visit the ladies room ... but if your romper's cute #worthit

Style Tip: Look for one that has a zipper. This one has buttons and a zipper. The ones with belts or buttons in the back require the most work.

Pink Confection

This pink confection is a perfect mix of elaborate and easy. The exaggerated puff sleeves and cinched waist are fashionable while in a crisp cool cotton it exudes comfort.

And this perfect shade of precious pink ... well, I do declare!

Personally, I believe rompers are a mix between a dress and shorts. They have the femininity of a dress and practicality of shorts.

Note: I typically go up a size for a best fit.

I styled this romper with espadrilles for a super springy look but flat sandals or a cute sneaker are just as fun!

I'd also style with brightly colored jewelry or purse such as turquoise or emerald green :)

Pure White

Do you have a Summer uniform? Mine looks a lot like this. White on white on white.  It's my most favorite shade (can you call it a color??) to wear. I love the crisp, clean brightness of white. It makes me feel so fresh ... and so clean clean - now you have that jam stuck in your head #sorry.

Warning: don't try to wear this with your toddler!

These jeans are amazing! I actually brought them home from the store's sale section for $9.99. How's that for a bargain?!! They're still available and while they might not be as cheap as lunch they're still at a fab price.  I love the higher waist to hold it all in (pet peeve - jeans that stretch and slide down UGH)
And the leg extends straight down from the hip which is the most flattering and most comfortable, in my opinion.  I love a pair of skinnies as much as the next gal, but a little breathing room feels so nice.

I'm a basic white tank over tee gal. I prefer sleeveless tops for movement and feel that they elongate my arms/body and I'll take all the elongating I can get... Even if it's just the perception in my head. I also tend to style my outfits with more coverage on my lower body than upper. It's just the proportions that make me most comfortable. A muscle/straight sleeveless tank is best as it conceals the undergarments completely (I find it utterly atrocious to have your undergarments exposed in any compacity).

I knotted this tank and added a gold necklace to shine up this monochromatic ensemble.  I continued the palette down to my canvas espadrilles.
Anther great way to wear white on white is to add a belt for a little break in the canvas.

Be brave and step out in an all white outfit ... carefully!

Wearing Sunshine

Walking on sunshine in this dress! I've been wanting a sunny yellow dress for a while now. I've also been crushing on this dress design for months.  So when I saw it in this yellow bird botanical print, and on sale, Ta-Da!

This dress design comes in a ton of colors and prints, light weight cotton, a twirling fun skirt, and unique rope belt. The sleeves have an elastic cuff so they can be pushed up like I have them to show a little more arm and the hem is longer in the back so that you don't have indecent exposure when moving around.

I wore this sassy number this past weekend at the beach with my gal pals and it was perfect for our evening cheers out on the water.  It's one of those dresses that's dressy enough for an event and casual enough for day time shindigs.  I think sneakers or a flat lace up sandal would be so cute!

Friday Favorites: Smile Makers

TGIF! Smile. Right now, just smile! Because no matter what we must lift our faces with gladness because life is worthwhile. Though our times seem overwhelmingly hard and sad and frustrating and sigh, just broken, I believe it is in these times we turn to God for strength and comfort and patience and peace. So I say we share our smiles with each other, it says so much more than actual words!

Here are some cheery pieces I've scouted that make me smile ...

This one makes me want to go on vacation somewhere tropical.

This dress has been on my wish list for months!

I have these and literally want to wear them every time I get dressed!

I tried this one on and loved it! And it's reversible

Spring Shoes

While it may only be February the temps down here in the South are giving Spring vibes.  I know it's not going to last and that checking the weather every day is crucial before getting dressed or deciding whether to exercise in doors or out.

Stores are already filling their floors with sundresses, light colors and sandals!  My feet aren't quite ready (I keep my toenails bare during the Winter to let them breathe) I'm dying to ditch the socks and tights.

Here is a round up of spring shoe trends I'm loving (and have already embraced)  ...

Tom Boy Chic

I am sooooo far from a ‘Tom Boy’ it’s not even funny.  I never played a sport but I was a twirling ballerina. I never wanted to get dirty but I did love to play dress up and Barbie dolls – some things never change!

The closest I get to being rugged or outdoorsy is my love of running, hiking, and shooting.  As for my wardrobe, ball caps and distress denim is as casual as it gets.  And even still I have to polish up my holey jeans.

I paired these distressed denim shorts with a crisp cotton popover shirt and a belt for a more put together look.  Add simple jewelry and a pair of espadrilles and I call this ‘Tom Boy Chic’.

Mixing the ultra-casual with pieces that have a bit more structure or design is a great way to step up your weekend style game.

Orange You Glad ...

Orange you glad it’s almost Friday?!!!!!

I can honestly say I have ants in my pants for tomorrow as we depart bright and early for our first ‘real’ trip together in 10 years!!

This week and next are the 2 BEST weeks of Summer 2016!
Every night this week it’s been Vacation Bible School – VBS at our church and I’ve been a group leader to 11 3rd-5th grade boys and girls WHEW! Talk about crashing every night.  In all seriousness, I’ve been looking forward to VBS for months and I have had as much fun as the kiddos singing, dancing, playing games, crafting and most importantly learning and growing in our faith.  My role is to teach and guide these kids as we explore the story of Noah but the reality is I’m learning just as much.  I was reminded this week of the blessing of God’s grace, the importance of obedience (no matter how old I am), trusting in Him and keeping my faith.

Tomorrow, we are leaving on a jet plane for the west coast to visit San Francisco and Wine Country! #cheers
We have a lot to celebrate and blessings to give thanks for – Mr returning safely from deployment in the Middle East, end of US Navy military service, settling in our QC home together, new careers for both of us, 6 years of marriage, great healthy, loving family and friends, the list goes on and on …..

So getting back on the fashion track, over the past 3 years I’ve been embracing the color orange.  I have never liked or given this shade any attention beyond Halloween.  Probably because my hair has always been orange.  It all started when I found this awesome orange rug for our living room with navy and ivory shades in the print.  It’s a large rug and fills the entire room so the orange is very prominent.  I found myself gravitating to more orange in décor accessories for our home and in my clothing and jewelry.  It pairs beautifully with navy, greens and purples.  I can’t believe how much orange I’ve incorporated into my world!  I’ve definitely been missing out all these years.

Ladies, I challenge you to take a color that you normally disregard and give it a second look.  You just might be glad you did!

Bright sundresses are staples in these hot sunny months.  They’re cool, cheerful and oh so pretty.  Consider a bright orange dress in your summer wardrobe.

Crisp Black Shirtdress

The shirtdress is just what it sounds like - a dress version of the button up shirt.  Think of it as feminizing the man’s dress shirt.  Made of crisp cotton and with the traditional curved hem and a touch of modern and casual with rolled sleeves, it’s the perfect balance.

To me this is the picture of polished style.  The style is timeless. The fit is feminine, skimming the body not swallowing or hugging too tightly.  And it’s a blank canvas for endless accessorizing!

I shared with you that my goal was to incorporate more black into my wardrobe and I’m pretty proud of myself for actually braving the darker side.  I started with this eyelet blouse I shared with you last week, and added this dress next.  I stayed within my style perimeters just opted for the opposite of my go-to shade of white.
Confession: I snagged this dress in white a few months ago – I have no shame in multiples when it comes to the classics!

I find that gals instinctively pair black ensembles with black shoes.  Personally, nude shoes are my favorite pairing for black.  It’s not matchy-matchy and because it blends with your skin it doesn’t distract.
I went with a pair of espadrilles for a more casual and comfortable look.
I did however add color and texture with this statement stone necklace in red & turquoise.  I’ve been obsessed with natural elements when it comes to jewelry lately – stones, leather, sea glass, wood etc…

This dark shirtdress will not only keep you cool in it’s easy cotton design but brings lots of chic to your summer wardrobe!  It’s perfect for the office or weekends with changes to your shoes; pumps, flats, wedges or sandals you can’t go wrong!

Just be sure to also have fun with your accessories on this blank canvas.
